He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 760

The golf course waiter brought in the menus, placing them down with practiced elegance.

Sebastian naturally flipped his open, leaning in to ask Skye in an impossibly gentle voice.

"What else do you want besides the Mango Sticky Rice, sweetie?" he chuckled warmly.

Skye eagerly scanned the pictures. "I want the Grilled Pork Neck, that big fish, and the Rice Noodles!"

"Done," Sebastian smiled.

He relayed the order to the waiter, catering to her every whim.

The waiter jotted it down quietly.

"And for you?" Sebastian turned his gaze to Helena.

Her appetite was completely gone; all she wanted was to bolt through the front door.

"I'm fine. Just that," she replied coldly.

Sebastian didn't press her, simply turning back to the menu. "We'll also take the Porcini Fried Rice, the Sour Soup with Sliced Beef, and the Water Spinach with Fermented Tofu."

He casually tacked on two delicate desserts to finish it off.

He had ordered purely off instinct, pulling the dishes straight from his memories of what the old Helena used to devour.

He didn't ask if she still liked them.

It was purely muscle memory.

He didn't need to double-check.

Skye looked up from her tablet, her eyes wide with surprise. "Sebastian, everything you just ordered is Lena's favorite!"

The room went deadly quiet for a split second.

Sebastian's lips curved into a faint, dangerous smile as he looked at the little girl. "Is that so?"

"Yeah, she eats that stuff all the time," Skye nodded seriously.

Helena's heart skipped a terrifying beat, but she bit the inside of her cheek and kept her mouth shut.

Sebastian caught her reaction from the corner of his eye but didn't push it.

Helena stubbornly stared straight ahead, refusing to speak.

Without warning, she realized Sebastian had closed the distance between them.

The moment his distinct, intoxicating scent washed over her, every muscle in her body locked up.

They were sitting dangerously close.

She didn't care what his twisted justifications were.

It didn't matter anymore.

He had once told her she could walk free if she just refused to confess.

But what did that change?

She hadn't wanted to escape prison; she had wanted to escape him.

She looked down, a sudden, familiar burning sensation stinging her eyes.

It wasn't grief.

It was the chronic pain she had suffered for years.

Because her original corneas were given to Janetta, the replacements never fully adapted, leaving her with agonizing dryness and severe night blindness.

It was a terrifying reality she had simply learned to live with.

A heavy, suffocating silence fell over the table.

Skye was entirely focused on her tablet, happily drawing, blissfully unaware of the psychological warfare happening inches away.
