He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 772

The three of them froze, staring at one another.

Skye offered a cheerful wave. "Hi, Helena! You didn't answer your phone, so Sebastian picked me up instead."

Helena was instantly rendered speechless.

Waking from her drug-induced sleep, she had checked the time, realized she was in Sebastian's apartment, and practically lost her mind.

Her first instinct had been to bolt.

She was terrified something had happened to Skye.

The Campbell Family was far from a safe haven.

And Julian had never bothered to hide how much he doted on Skye.

She had feared that his enemies might target the little girl.

It was only now, seeing Sebastian walking in safely with Skye, that Helena finally let out a breath she hadn't realized she was holding.

"You fell asleep over there, so I just brought you back here," Sebastian explained easily, his tone entirely unapologetic.

He had practically abducted her in broad daylight and acted as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

Helena remained silent.

She couldn't very well pick a fight with him in front of Skye.

Besides, with him acting so brazenly unbothered, what could she possibly say?

Yet the intense way Sebastian's eyes locked onto her still made a shiver run down her spine.

"Also, I bought the ingredients Skye wanted for dinner. We'll eat together." His tone was perfectly level, yet it carried an undeniable, commanding edge.

By then, Skye had already latched onto Helena's arm.

"Helena, are you sick? Let me see if you have a fever." Skye reached up on her tiptoes to feel Helena's forehead.

The innocent gesture sent a sharp pang through Helena's chest.

It was only because the little girl had suffered so many fevers herself that she was intimately familiar with the routine.

The thought made Helena fall even quieter.

"I'm fine. I've just been really exhausted lately, so I took some anxiety medication to help me sleep," she murmured.

Skye nodded. "Then let's go home right after we eat. I didn't know you were awake, otherwise I wouldn't have come here."

As she spoke, she cast a hesitant glance toward the kitchen.

She added, sounding slightly conflicted, "To be honest, I think Sebastian's cooking is really good. It's just as good as a restaurant."

"Then we'll eat and go," Helena coaxed gently.
