He nodded obediently. "Okay."

She then marched straight over to Sebastian.

He didn't even bother to lift his eyes, acting as if he was completely ignoring her.

She took a deep breath, forcing herself to stay patient. "Kyle is staying here tonight. I'll take him to school tomorrow. We already agreed."

"He's my son. Why do you care so much?" he asked, his words laced with cruelty. "Someone who didn't know better might actually think you gave birth to him."

"You!" She snapped, her face flushing with instant anger.

But remembering Kyle was right there, she swallowed her fury and refused to cause a scene.

"I just don't want to disappoint him," she stated, enunciating every word.

He looked back down at his phone, impossible to tell if he had heard her or just didn't care.

But she already knew exactly what he wanted.
