The Everett estate was sprawling, and Helena took Sebastian on a slow lap around the property.
Helena barely spoke as they walked side by side.
"Where's Skye?" Sebastian finally asked when they reached the upper floor.
"My grandmother took her visiting," Helena answered truthfully.
The Capital still held fast to its old traditions.
Starting from Little New Year, doing the rounds to wish relatives well was completely normal.
And since Skye was so incredibly charming, she was bound to rake in a fortune in red envelopes.
It wasn't like the lucky red packets back in Coralia.
The red envelopes here were filled with serious cash.
No one could say no to that.
Sebastian let out a soft hum of acknowledgment.
As Helena walked slightly ahead, Sebastian naturally reached out and intertwined his fingers with hers.
Helena looked down at their connected hands.
It was hard to tell if she was pulling away or accepting it.
"How did you convince Julian to bring you inside?" Helena asked, keeping her expression perfectly neutral.
Sebastian had already stepped seamlessly into her bedroom.
He scanned the room, almost as if he were hunting for traces of another man.
His gaze casually drifted toward the walk-in closet, where he instantly spotted a set of men's pajamas.
Along with some extra toiletries.
Sebastian's eyes darkened instantly.
Helena caught the shift in his demeanor.
"Julian and I used to be married. Whenever I come back to the Capital, he obviously comes back too. Is it really that shocking that he has things here?" Helena challenged directly.
She didn't break eye contact, refusing to back down.
Sebastian didn't answer; he just stared at her.
The silence was heavy and suffocating.
"You haven't answered my question," Helena pressed, pulling the conversation back on track.
Sebastian didn't hide the truth. "I told him where Isla Shaw is, and he brought me in. The Everetts never banned me from entering; they were just waiting to see who would be the one to open the door. Wasn't that the game?"
Helena blinked in surprise. "How do you know where Isla is?"
"Isla is my secretary," Sebastian said flatly.
As he spoke, he calmly began gathering every single item in the room that belonged to Julian.
Not only that, but he had the audacity to call the butler over.
