Helena didn't back down an inch.
Staring straight through Grace's pathetic display of authority, she delivered her rejection with icy detachment.
"Skye has absolutely nothing to do with the Hayes family," Helena stated flatly.
Those few words drained the color right out of Grace's face.
But Helena was just getting started. "When Skye was dying and desperately needed the Hayes family, you turned your backs on her. You allowed Janetta to nearly kill her and denied her even the most basic medical care. You gave up the right to call her your granddaughter a long time ago."
"Furthermore, it was the Campbells who dragged Skye back from the brink of death. What right do you have to complain about her living with them?"
"The Campbells treat her like royalty; they love her as if she were their own blood. Compared to the Campbells, the Hayes family is a toxic wasteland."
"Tell me, what kind of mother would drag her child out of a loving home and throw her into a hostile snake pit? I'm not an idiot."
"Surely you can grasp basic logic, Mrs. Hayes?"
Helena's words were a barrage of daggers, giving Grace absolutely zero room to breathe or defend herself.
"Besides, you already have a grandson to play with. Stop obsessing over someone else's child."
"And another thing—did you even bother clearing this with Sebastian? He hasn't dared to breathe a word of this to me. Who gave you the audacity to corner me and make demands?"
Having delivered the final blow, Helena stared at Grace with absolute zero emotion.
Grace's face flushed a violent, humiliating crimson.
It was a devastating reality check—the woman she used to use as a literal floor mat was now dressing her down in public.
"Helena, you little—" Grace sputtered, jabbing an angry finger in Helena's face.
Helena didn't even flinch.
She slapped Grace's hand away with lethal precision. "And let me remind you, we are in the Capital."
The implication was crystal clear: Grace was out of her territory, and she had zero power here.
If Helena decided to destroy her, there was nowhere she could hide.
Grace had never been humiliated like this in her entire life.
She absolutely lost her mind.
"Helena, mark my words! Skye is a Hayes, and she will return to the Hayes estate, or I will make your life a living hell!" Grace shrieked hysterically.
The high-end restaurant was supposed to be a quiet, dignified space.
Grace's screaming instantly drew the stares of everyone around them.
