"You were the one who said she didn't matter! You literally told me she wasn't someone you couldn't live without! If you're going to divorce her, why the hell shouldn't I take care of her!"
Jarrod's jaw and the corner of his eye were already bruising. Slumped against the cushions, his voice dropped to a lethal growl. "You're dead."
Sebastian grabbed a few tissues to wipe his bloody knuckles and let out a dark laugh. "Look me in the eye and tell me you ever gave a damn about Stella! When her own family slapped her across the face and left her crying alone, where were you? When she was nearly run over and left with scraped hands and a sprained ankle, where the hell were you?"
"Even now, you're sitting there on your high horse! If you cared about her life even a fraction, you wouldn't be finding out today that I'm the lead designer for SD Apparel!"
Jarrod's face was a mask of cold fury. Gripping the armrest, he slowly pulled himself up. Pain ripped through his injured arm, sending a cold sweat down his temples, but he completely ignored it. Locking eyes with Sebastian, he ground out every word, "All I know is that she is my wife, and you have absolutely no right to want her!"
Sebastian refused to back down. "You two are getting a divorce! She has the right to choose whoever she wants, and you have no right to act like you own her!"
"Sebastian! Jarrod! Are you two in there? I'm coming in!"
A frantic pounding echoed from the hallway. It was Stella.
The two men traded a brief glance, both hurriedly attempting to straighten their disheveled, bloody clothes.
The hotel manager unlocked the door.
Stella stepped into the suite. Staring at the overturned furniture and the two battered men, she froze in absolute shock.
She had been mid-bite at breakfast when Julian Jenson called in a complete panic.
He had demanded to know if Jarrod was with her, explaining that Jarrod was dodging his calls and was likely hunting Sebastian down.
"Stella, Jarrod is definitely on a warpath! You need to go stop him right now!"
Julian had sounded frantic. "I'm heading to the airport. I'll be there as soon as I can!"
