Stella had less to drink than Summer, keeping her reflexes relatively sharp. At the sound of footsteps, she glanced toward the door of their private booth.

The woman standing there was none other than the very subject of their earlier conversation—Aria!

Compared to the skimpy outfit she had worn at the food stalls last time, Aria was dressed impeccably. She wore a designer skirt suit, her hair perfectly styled, and clutched an elegant little purse. The refined look only accentuated her delicate, innocent features.

Stella stared in disbelief at the drastic transformation. "How did you know we were here? What do you want?"

Hearing Stella’s voice, Summer dragged her hazy gaze toward the newcomer. The moment recognition flashed in her eyes, she instinctively straightened her posture, masking the heartbreak that had just been plastered across her face.

Aria still wore that same timid, nervous expression as she slowly approached them. "I'm so sorry, ladies. I really didn't mean to intrude."

"I just needed to find you, Summer, but I didn't have your number," Aria said, looking directly at her. "I happened to hear you were here tonight, so I took the liberty of coming over."

Sobering up slightly, Summer stared at her with icy detachment. "What do you want?"

Aria shrank back as if terrified, her knuckles turning white around her purse strap.

"Summer, Lucca's friends told me you're furious with him because of me. This is all my fault. I never should have gone to him for a loan to cover my mother's medical bills. If you want to blame someone, blame me, but please don't be mad at Lucca," she choked out through her tears.

Summer let out a cold laugh. "And exactly what right do you have to be begging me?"

Panic flashed across Aria's face. "I... I just... since I caused this, I wanted to explain. I'm the one at fault, and I don't want you misunderstanding him..."

"Are you sure you're here to clear things up, or are you just trying to add fuel to the fire?" Stella snapped, unable to hold back. "Put yourself in her shoes. If your boyfriend secretly gave money and support to another woman, and then that woman came crying to you to forgive him, would you be thrilled?"
