Chapter 10
That evening, my mother–in–law called, her voice seething with rage:
“Victoria Sterling! You shameless bitch, have you been bullying Dorian again?”
I responded with icy amusement:
‘Do you have any idea what your precious son has been up to?”
“We’re filing for divorce tomorrow, so don’t bother calling again!”
I hung up immediately.
The next day, outside the Civil Affairs Bureau, Dorian’s entire family had come to support him.
Dorian refused to meet my eyes, staring off into the distance.
Dorian’s mother and brother held their noses so high they practically pointed toward the sky.
“Let me tell you something–our Dorian can find someone infinitely better than you in a heartbeat!”
I nodded agreeably. “I absolutely believe that! Your son could probably even land the female president if he wanted!”
It wasn’t until we sat down in the Civil Affairs Bureau to sign the divorce papers that Dorian finally broke down:
‘Victoria Sterling, I’m sorry–I was wrong! I’ll make her get an abortion, can’t we start over?”
‘Absolutely not!”
I signed my name with satisfying finality.
Though Dorian had held various jobs over the years, he could barely support himself.
All our savings came from my income, so our divorce settlement reflected our respective contributions.
I left him $10,000–more than generous, really.
The house was mine before marriage, as was the car, so naturally they remained mine.
As for the house I’d helped his parents purchase–I’d made the down payment and secured the loan.
His parents had demanded the deed be in their names, but insisted I handle the mortgage payments.
Fine by me!
They could keep living in the house for all I cared, but they could damn well handle their own mortgage payments from now on!
Later, I heard that Fiona Sharp had continued pestering Dorian for a while.

He Thought I’d Cry? I Broadcast Their Affair
Chapter 10
But Dorian had already forced her to abort the pregnancy and wanted nothing more to do with her.
He did end up marrying into wealth–some rich older woman his mother had introduced him to through matchmaking
The woman was over sixty, unmarried, and immediately paid off his family’s entire mortgage upon meeting him.
Dorian’s mother was absolutely thrilled!
She kept bragging that the new daughter–in–law was infinitely superior to the previous one!
After that, I stopped paying attention to their affairs.
But one day, Dorian came looking for me again–by then he’d wasted away to practically nothing.
Victoria Sterling, I’m begging you to save me! My mother sold me off–that old hag treats me terribly!”
“She wants me to give her a son, but she’s completely barren herself!”
I burst out laughing. Karma at its finest.
“Why don’t you track down Fiona Sharp and borrow some genetic material? Problem solved.”
After offering this helpful suggestion, I shut the door and went back inside.
Later I heard Dorian had cheated AGAIN.
The old hag beat him within an inch of his life and CUT OFF his family jewels. They divorced shortly after.
Eventually, his entire family left the city.
I suppose I hope he finds happiness somewhere else!
