Healing Kisses (Sophia and Santiago) novel Chapter 212

211

"I have to admit that I was a little iffy about coming back," | say, leaning against him. "But now that we're away, I miss it."

"You do?" he asks, surprised.

"Yeah, I mean, who would we be without the drama of home? We cant run away from it. I missed my grandma and your dad a lot. I miss Ivar and Anna.

Don't you?"

"They can literally visit whenever they want now, he shakes his head.

I take his hand when I feel the force in the water coming in our direction at top speed. I put my fruit away and stand. He sees the urgency in my movements and stands with me. A massive dome of water pops up a few feet away before it breaks apart to reveal this dramatic idiot.

"That's the fish King?" Ragnar asks, completely unimpressed.

The last time I had been in his presence, I didn't bother asking him for a name. After what he said, I stormed out of his little air pocket, not wanting to listen to any more of his stupidity. Yet, U understand where he is coming from. I'd be a hypocrite if I said I didnt. After all, I did what I set out to do, and l am here for a similar reason.

"You're trespassing," he says as he steps down onto the sand.

"I'm the Lycan Queen, asshole. The only trespasser here is you," I growl at him. From the corner of my eye, I can see Ragnar grinning like a madman. He's wearing a wetsuit and seems completely unbothered by our presence.

"I can just make you do it," he threatens.

"I'd like to see you try," I scoff. "How did you convince everyone else you were an alpha?"

"It's easy. Everyone wants to believe they're being saved. They see a superior being and the rest is history. You know what that's like," he says and glances over at my mate.

"No, I don't," | growl at him. He doesn't like that. "You can't compel me. You're not my alpha, nor are you my King."

"You are but a child," he huffs. "You don't understand-"

"I understand that you made a mistake that cost you everything. You're trying to blame the vampire King for something that you did to yourself. You put your daughters in danger because you couldn't let go of something that never belonged to you in the first place."

"You don't get to say that to me when you stand here with your chosen," he shouts.

"I didn't choose him. Fate gave us a second chance. I don't know how siren laws work, but guarantee you that forcing someone to do what you did is wrong. I am not going to hurt anyone for you. Push me, and Oroboros will be over before you can do anything about it."

"You dare threaten me?" he hisses. The gills on his neck shake, making that sound that much more intimidating.

Ragnar growls, and I feel the intensity of his flames come to life behind me. I can feel the calmness of his rage in my chest mirrorina mv own. It was a mistake for this man to come to us alone. My affinity sparks to life and reaches out protectively to Ragnar.

It would be so easy to kill him and take what I want, but unfortunately, I'm not the kind of person who would do that or could. No matter how much I want to. Doing it once to the place I had once considered home was more than enough. I still carry that guilt, and I will always carry it with me until the day die.

"You're one person," I remind him. "Your research can be passed down to more capable hands. What you want for something that can easily be removed from the position it's in with a single social media post backed by hard evidence is easy."

"What about you?" he takes a step forward.

-Easy. He's baiting us.- I warn Ragnar when the heat intensifies.

"Do you think you can't be destroyed that easily?"

"There's not a lot about me that people don't already know. That's the problem with wanting to help others. No one really cares about the helping. They want to know why. They want to discredit something so badly they'd do just about anything to prove that this person is wrong. Then they get mad when they find that maybe, just maybe, this person is exactly who they claim to be.

"You're mad because you don't have anything you can use to hurt me. Even if I were to kill you here and now, it wouldn't matter. I'd be doing my friend a favor since you are a threat to him and his family. There is no way you can move forward where you come out on the winning side. If I had called the vampires the moment I left your bubble, you'd already be dead."

"You're so sure of yourself," he smiles. "You surface dwellers are alwavs-"

He's cut off by an eruption of water behind him.

Oliver and the serpent make their way out of the rising tide. He's wearing nothing but a pair of swim shorts. He pushes his wet hair out of his face and makes his way over to us. Who was the display for?

"This is interesting," he says, and I can see the panic in the Fish King's eyes when he tries to step away from my brother. "It's been a while since you've stepped out of the water, Percy."

Ragnar pulls me to him when we're surrounded by wolves. I look around to see that its not just Lycans approaching. A massive white wolf stops a few feet away from us, and with that, this man is completely surrounded.
