Heaven or Hell: Loving My Twisted Billionaire novel Chapter 40

Chapter 40

Finn, that’s not I started, but he cut me off.

I don’t remember you. I don’t remember any wedding. And now you claim you’re pregnant with my child? Without any proof? His voice rose with each

accusation. How stupid do you think I am?

The child is yours,I insisted, keeping my voice steady. I know this is difficult to believe-

Difficult?Finn scoffed. It’s impossible. For all I know, you could be sleeping with half of New York and looking for a rich father for your bastard.

The cruel words hit me like physical blows, but I forced myself to remember that this wasn’t really Finn speakingit was a frightened, confused man trying

to make sense of a world that had shifted beneath his feet.

We can do a paternity test once the baby is born,I said softly. But that’s months away.

And in the meantime, what? I’m supposed to just let you move in with me? Let any random pregnant woman claim my name and fortune?Finn’s voice was

razorsharp.

Victoria cleared her throat. Finn, Hannah will stay at Sterling Estate regardless. She’s carrying a Sterling heir, legitimate or not.

Finn shot his grandmother a look of pure venom. So you’re in on this too.

I’m protecting the family’s interests,Victoria replied coolly. As I always have.

Dr. Klein, who had been silent throughout the exchange, stepped forward. Mr. Sterling, I believe you’re stable enough to be discharged. We recommend

transferring you to a familiar environment where you can rest and potentially regain your memories.

Finn’s laugh was hollow. Familiar? Nothing about this situation is familiar.

Despite his protests, preparations began for Finn’s discharge. Victoria arranged for a private ambulance to transport him to Sterling Estate’s medical wing,

and I watched helplessly as nurses prepared him for the journey. Throughout it all, Finn’s eyes remained cold, calculating, sweeping the room as if

memorizing exits and potential weapons.

The ride back to Sterling Estate was excruciating. Finn sat as far from me as possible in the back of the luxury SUV, his body language screaming distrust.

Victoria spent most of the journey on her phone, managing some crisis or another, occasionally glancing between Finn and me with an unreadable

expression.

I tried to fill the silence by explaining things about the estatewhich wing housed what, the layout of the gardens, the staff he might encounterbut Finn

only responded with curt nods, his attention focused on the passing landscape outside the window. I could see his eyes tracking landmarks, assessing distances, like someone planning an escape.

When we finally pulled through the ornate gates of Sterling Estate, I watched Finn’s expression change. Surprise flickered across his features, followed

quickly by suspicion as he took in the sprawling mansion and meticulously maintained grounds. The car stopped at the main entrance, where a line of staff waited to welcome us.

Finn’s eyes narrowed at the sight of the servants. Is this a welcoming committee or a security detail?he muttered.

I reached for his hand instinctively, wanting to offer comfort, but he jerked away from my touch as if burned.

Don’t, he said coldly. I don’t need to pretend we have some kind of relationship.

Chapter 40

The words stung, but I nodded and withdrew my hand. Finn stepped out of the car, his movements cautious despite his obvious physical weakness from his injuries. He stood at the base of the grand staircase leading to the main doors, taking in the estate with the calculating gaze of someone assessing a

potential prison.

Then he turned, fixing me with those piercing green eyes.

I’m going to figure out what’s really going on here,he said, his voice low enough that only I could hear. And if you’re lying to me…” He left the threat

unfinished, but the implication was clear.
