Heaven or Hell: Loving My Twisted Billionaire

Chapter 41

Finn’s POV

I stood in the center of what they called Sterling Estate, my eyes methodically scanning every inch of the grand foyer. The crystal chandelier hanging overhead, the marble flooring beneath my feet, the ornate doorways leading to God knows whereall of it supposedly belonged to me. All of it felt like a

trap.

This is the main hall, the older womanVictoriasaid with practiced smoothness. You’ve lived here for five years now, Finn.

I didn’t respond. Instead, I continued my assessment, mentally marking each exit, calculating how quickly I could reach them if needed. Five years of living in luxury? The concept seemed absurd. The last thing I remembered was fighting for scraps in the underground circuit, not owning a mansion that could

house a small army.

Would you like me to show you around?the pregnant womanHannahasked, taking a step toward me.

I shifted my focus to her, trying to find any hint of deception in those warm brown eyes. I can find my way.

A jolt of pain shot through my side as I moved, but I kept my expression neutral. These people didn’t need to know I was hurting. In my experience, showing weakness only invited predators.

The medical wing is prepared for you,Victoria said. Dr. Klein recommended we monitor your condition for at least-*

I’m fine,I cut her off. The last thing I needed was to be trapped in another hospital room, surrounded by people with needles and charts.

Hannah looked like she wanted to reach out to me, but somethingperhaps the cold look in my eyesstopped her. Good. I didn’t need her pity, and I certainly didn’t trust her claim about carrying my child. For all I knew, this entire setup was an elaborate con.

The sound of footsteps from my left drew my attention. A tall, broadshouldered man in a black suit appeared, his expression serious as he approached

Victoria.

Ma’am, security has completed the perimeter check. All systems are operational,he reported.

My heart skipped a beat as recognition hit me like a punch to the gut. Jack?

The man turned, surprise flashing across his rugged features as his eyes met mine.

You remember Jack?Hannah asked, her voice rising with what sounded like hope.

Victoria stepped forward, composure intact. Jack came with you when you returned to the family five years ago. You insisted he be hired as part of your personal security team.

I smiled coldly. Sounds like something I would do.My eyes never left Jack’s face. If he was here, maybe there was some truth to what these people were saying. Jack had been one of the few people I trusted in the fighting circuitas much as I trusted anyone.

Perhaps we should get you settled,Victoria suggested. The medical wing is fully equipped-

No,I interrupted sharply. I’m not going to be poked and prodded by more doctors.

But your injuries- Hannah began.

I’ve had worse,I cut her off. The knife wounds in my side and chest throbbed in protest, but I’d survived worse in the pits. I want to see my room. have a room here, don’t I? If I’ve lived here five years like you claim.

Victoria and Hannah exchanged glances, a silent communication I couldn’t decipher.

Of course you have a room,Victoria conceded reluctantly. “The master suite in the west wing.

Take me there,I demanded, then added with a cold edge to my voice, Just Jack. The rest of you can leave.

I do

Hannah’s face fell. But I should help you get settled-

I don’t need your help,I said, meeting her gaze with a hardness I’d perfected over years in the underground. I don’t need anyone hovering over me like

I’m some invalid.*

Finn, please, she tried again. The doctors said someone should stay with you to-

I said no.I dropped my voice dangerously low, the tone I’d used to make grown men back down in the pits. Just Jack.
