Heaven or Hell: Loving My Twisted Billionaire novel Chapter 68

Chapter 68

During lunch break, as I was tidying up my classroom, Principal Adams hurried in, her expression tense.

Hannah, there’s avery important visitor who wants to see you,she whispered, eyes wide. He’s waiting in the conference room at the end of the hall.

I noticed other staff members whispering, occasionally glancing down the hallway with curious looks. Who would come here looking for me? Could it be William or Sophia? My heart raced as I followed Principal Adams through

the corridor.

When I saw the figure standing at the hall’s end, my heart nearly stopped.

Finn

He stood there, sunlight streaming through the windows behind him, outlining his tall silhouette. He wore a snowwhite shirt with the collar loose, paired with a dark suit jacket with subtle patterns. Even with sunglasses on, I could feel the weight of his gaze.

Finn?I couldn’t believe my eyes. What are you doing here?

He gave a soft scoff, his lips curling into a cold smile. Surprised? I believe this is a public place, and I have every

right to be here.

The principal glanced nervously between us, then politely suggested, Mr. Sterling, Ms. Lancaster, perhaps you’d like to talk in the teacherslounge? We’ve prepared some refreshments.

Finn nodded, gesturing for us to follow the principal. The lounge indeed had elegant refreshments prepared, obviously specially arranged for Finn. After the principal hastily excused herself, we were alone.

Why are you here?I asked directly. Has something happened?

I’m not here because of you, if that’s what you’re wondering,” Finn replied coldly, taking a piece of cake and savoring it slowly. I’m conducting research for the Sterling Group’s medical facilities project, looking to

understand the actual needs of special children.”

I suddenly remembered that he had discussed this project with me before his memory loss. He had once shown

genuine interest in my work, not this cold detachment.

“I see,I said softly. That’s a meaningful project.

ppp.

Finn abruptly changed the subject, his voice carrying a dangerously casual tone: Tell me, Hannah, why did you refuse Sophia’s necklace with sixty pearls?

1 stared at him in shock. How do you know about that?

There are no secrets within the Sterling family,he smirked. Not from me, anyway.

I realized the Sterling family’s intelligence network was everywhere, even private conversations quickly relayed. I don’t want gifts with strings attached,I answered frankly. Especially when the condition is betraying you.

Finn ate his cake methodically, observing my reactions. Sophia holds a special position in the group. Hergenerosity is wellknown. Few people can refuse the benefits she offers.

I’m not most people,I said. No matter the payment, I won’t sell you out.

Why?he pressed, his voice calm but with a sharp edge. Is it loyalty? Morality? Or do you think I’ll eventually

offer better compensation?

Because I only have one value to hermy relationship with you,I looked directly at his sunglasses, trying to penetrate that barrier to see his eyes. Whether she wants to ally with you or scheme against you, I won’t help her

hurt you.

Finn’s expression became unreadable. I won’t be giving you pearls, you know.

I don’t need pearls,I smiled. Meeting you has been enough for me. Even six hundred pearls wouldn’t change my

mind.

Silence enveloped us. Finn stared at me intensely, seemingly judging the truthfulness of my words. Suddenly, he stood up and pulled me in front of him. His fingers gripped my wrist tightly, just at the edge of pain.

I’ll be watching to see how long you can maintain this, Hannah Lancaster, his voice was low and threatening,

with an emotion I couldn’t quite decipher.
