Chapter 79
Hannah’s POV
Victoria had no answer for that.
When we reached the main entrance, I was surprised to see Finn waiting, leaning against a sleek black car. Several men in suits stood nearby – my new security detail arranged by Victoria, I assumed.
Finn gestured toward the men. “These three stay. The rest go.”
I watched, bewildered, as he dismissed several other security personnel with a flick of his wrist.
“How did you choose?” I asked, thinking he must have observed their expressions or body language to gauge loyalty.
Finn’s smile was cold. “The ones staying all have families. Lots of attachments.” He leaned closer, his voice dropping to a
whisper that sent ice through my veins. “I made sure they understand that if anything happens to you, everyone they care
about will pay the price.”
I stared at him, the warm feeling of understanding I’d developed while learning about his past suddenly chilled by the
reminder of who he had become.
This was still Finn Sterling – a man shaped by darkness, whose idea of protection was built on threats and fear. Learning his past helped me understand him, but it didn’t change who he was now.
And that realization was both heartbreaking and terrifying.
I placed my hand on the small suitcase after the driver helped me load it into the trunk. When I turned around, I was surprised to find Finn sitting in the driver’s seat rather than the back.
Sliding into the passenger seat, I fastened my seatbelt and turned to face him. His profile was sharp against the afternoon light, his expression unreadable as always.
“I want you to know something,” I said, my voice steadier than I expected. “I will never hurt you or betray your trust. Not
ever.”
Finn didn’t look at me. His hands tightened slightly on the steering wheel, the only indication that he’d heard me at all. After a moment of silence that stretched between us like a taut wire, he started the engine. The luxury car purred to life, and we pulled away from the hospital with surprising speed.
Neither of us spoke during the drive. I watched the city blur past my window, wondering if my words had meant anything
to him at all.

Chapter 79
JM
When we arrived at the hospital for my follow–up appointment, Finn escorted me inside, his hand placed possessively at the small of my back. Once we were in the examination room with the door closed behind us, his demeanor changed
instantly.
He backed me against the wall, his body caging mine as his lips found my neck. “Do you have any idea how much I want
you?” he murmured against my skin.
My breath caught in my throat as his hands slid down my sides, gripping my hips with bruising intensity. There was
something desperate in his touch, something that went beyond mere desire.
“You’re mine,” he growled, his eyes darkening as they met mine. “Every inch of you belongs to me now. Do you
understand?”
Before I could answer, his mouth claimed mine in a kiss that left no room for misinterpretation. His possessiveness should
have frightened me, but instead, it sent a shiver of anticipation down my spine.
When he finally pulled back, I struggled to catch my breath. “What about Sophia and her assistant?” I asked, my voice
barely above a whisper.
A cold smile played across his lips. “Don’t worry about them. They’re experiencing some…
Nothing permanent. Just enough to send a message.”
transportation difficulties.
The casual way he referenced their disappearance should have horrified me, but after my own near–death experience, I
found it hard to summon much sympathy.
Finn guided me toward the hospital bed, his intentions clear. “We should make the most of our privacy,” he said, his fingers already working at the buttons of my blouse.
