Chapter 119
Chapter 119
When it came to Sarah, James was sure Nina wouldn’t do anything reckless.
All things considered, James chose to put his faith in Nina.
Inside the room, with no one around to bother her, Nina focused on Sarah, working her magic with the needles.
The technique Nina was using was the Soul-Stealing Thirteen Needles, an ancient, long-lost art. As long as someone still had a breath left, it could snatch them right back from the jaws of death.
Three years of hard training, and now Nina could wield it like second nature.
Earlier, the poison hadn’t spread enough to need the Soul-Stealing Thirteen Needles.
But now, there was no other way.
Downstairs, as soon as James reached the bottom, the Swansons immediately surrounded him.
Linda blurted out, “James, are you really just going to let Nina act crazy? Mom’s in such bad shape; if we keep wasting time, we’ll be planning her funeral before we know it.”
Michael nodded and said, “I know Nina’s close to Mom, but this isn’t a joke. If anything happens to her, people will say we’re heartless.”
It wasn’t that Michael was afraid of being shamed; he just genuinely didn’t want anything to happen to Sarah.
Robert chimed in, “James, we’ve all neglected Mom with work and even dropped the ball on her birthday. We can’t lose her. In this family, besides Mom, Nina only listens to you. Go talk to her and get Mom to the hospital, now.”-
James looked around at the Swansons, his expression heavy. Then he announced, “Mom’s been poisoned.”
“Poisoned?” someone blurted out.
Everyone’s eyes went wide in shock.
Michael blurted out, “How could she be poisoned? Who told you that?”
“Nina did,” James replied. “She knows medicine, and she’s up there right now trying to save Mom.”
James had just watched everyone’s faces closely; they all looked genuinely shocked.
James thought, ‘It didn’t look like any of them did it.
‘But then, who was behind it?
‘Who’d be twisted enough to poison mom?’
“James, is Nina’s madness contagious?” Judy snapped, her brow furrowed. “Didn’t you check her background before she came back? She’s a high-school dropout playing doctor while Mom needs a hospital. What kind of son are you?”
James shot a look upstairs and replied, “When it’s about her grandma, I know Nina wouldn’t do anything crazy.”
“You!” Judy was so mad. She said, “That’s your own mother; You’d rather trust some random girl who knows nothing over real doctors at the hospital?”
Judy just couldn’t believe James was being this foolish.

Chapter 119
“Enough. That’s enough. No more arguing. Until Nina comes out, I want everyone to stay quiet.” James said.

James didn’t bother arguing with them anymore. He was just as stressed as everyone else. The truth was, he had no idea if he was making the right choice.
“James, I’ve always gone along with you, but this time I can’t just sit back and let you and Nina mess around. I’m taking Mom to the hospital, Robert snapped, then rushed upstairs.
Robert hadn’t even made it two steps before Ryan’s bodyguards pinned him down.
The Swansons went ballistic, shoving and swinging at the bodyguards.
The bodyguards didn’t dare actually hurt the Swansons; they just restrained them, holding everyone in place.
The Swansons were fuming, but powerless to do anything about it.
Vivian, Martin, and Lily stood at the back of the crowd.
Vivian took in the chaos, then murmured to Martin under her breath, “Martin, you didn’t have anything to do with this, right?”
Martin freaked out and replied, “Mom, come on. How could you even think that? I’d never poison my grandma.”
Vivian let out a sigh of relief, then turned to look at Lily.
Lily quickly said, “It wasn’t me. Of course I wouldn’t do something like that.”
Even though Lily wished that Sarah would just drop dead already.
But this really wasn’t her doing.
Vivian whispered, “Now that’s strange. Is there really anyone in our family who hates Sarah so much they’d actually want her dead?”
Lily’s eyes narrowed.
She might just know who it could be.
