Chapter 118
Chapter 118
The Swansons glared at Nina, looking like they wanted to rip her to shreds.
Sarah might have played favorites sometimes, but she was a good person. She treated the Swansons well. Except for that one time she slapped Vivian, she’d never so much as touched anyone else.
Sarah wasn’t like those nightmare matriarchs in wealthy families. She actually respected everyone.
So when Sarah suddenly fell seriously ill, everyone’s worry was real.
Therefore, when they saw Nina showing no respect for Sarah, jabbing a needle into her scalp, everyone was about to explode with anger.
But Nina was a total psycho; she’d lash out at anyone without warning, so nobody dared say a word.
All they could do was glare at her.
But Nina reached for another needle. Judy finally lost it and said, “Nina, stop right now. Do you hear me? If you end up killing your grandma today, I swear I won’t let you off.”
Nina didn’t even spare Judy a glance. All her attention was on Sarah as she went ahead and stuck in the second needle.
Judy was furious. She lunged at Nina, grabbing her hand and said, “You dare keep going? You little devil, how can you be so cruel? Are you really not going to stop until you’ve killed your grandma?”
Nina narrowed her eyes, shooting Judy a look that could kill. Nina was just about to lash out when a cold voice cut through the tension from the doorway. Someone said, “Throw them all out.”
As soon as Ryan spoke, a bunch of bodyguards in black suits stormed in. The Swansons didn’t even get a chance to react before they were hauled out.
That move made the Swansons furious. They started cursing and yelling nonstop.
Ryan scowled and said coldly, “Gag them.”
In an instant, the room went dead quiet.
“Nina, your grandma’s in bad shape. Trust dad, get her to the hospital, now,” James said.
Because James was Nina’s father, Ryan let him stay.
Nina didn’t want to even look at James, but seeing Sarah lying on the bed, barely conscious, she inserted the second silver needle into her.
Then she stood up and met James’s eyes. Nina said, “Grandma’s been poisoned. When I left this morning, the toxins hadn’t spread so quickly, but now her organs are deteriorating fast. I’m trying to block her acupoints and keep the poison from spreading.”
James’s face went påle. He asked, “Poisoned? How is that even possible? Your grandma’s always been kind to everyone; she’s never offended anyone. Who would want to poison her?”,
James paused, then shot Nina a suspicious look and asked, “And how do you even know she’s been poisoned?”
Nina had little patience to explain, but James was the only one who could maintain order. She explained, “I’m trained in medicine. Right now, I need to use life-saving acupuncture to keep Grandma hanging on. It’s risky and can’t be interrupted.
Got it?”

James was floored by what Nina said, but seeing how dead serious she looked, he nodded almost on instinct. “I get it. You just focus on saving Grandma. Leave the rest of the family to me; they won’t get in your way, I promise.”
After James left the room, he suddenly snapped back to reality.
James thought, ‘How did I just agree to let Nina treat Mom?
‘Even if she knows medicine, she’s not even nineteen yet. If Mom really is poisoned, can she really pull this off?
‘From what Nina said, this poison was no joke; it had spread through Mom’s whole body in just a few hours. This was definitely something that called for a team of doctors.
‘So why did I just go along with Nina?’
James stood there in silence, staring at the tightly shut door.
Finally, he turned away and went downstairs.
James hadn’t spent much time around Nina and only knew she had a temper and wasn’t shy about getting physical if being pushed.
Still, it was obvious Nina really cared about her grandma.
