“Nina gets whatever she wants,” Ryan said. “Before anyone tries ‘give’ her something, they’d better make sure they’re worthy.”

He walked over to Nina, wrapped an arm around her shoulder, and swept a cold look across the room before staring at the Swansons. “Since you all don’t like Nina, why don’t you just dison her? Nina doesn’t need you. I’ll take care of her.”

Vivian’s face went rigid. Ryan was humiliating the Swanson family in front of everyone.

Lily’s expression twisted for a moment before she forced an awkward smile. There was nothing she could say. With Ryan backing Nina, anything she said would only turn into humiliation.

Sarah looked at Ryan with displeasure. “My Nina doesn’t need you to take care of her. She hasn’t even agreed to get engaged to you.”

Ryan turned his head, looking at the girl he held closest to his heart. “Nina, stop it. I really didn’t cheat on you. Since we already have a marriage agreement, why don’t we just get engaged today?”

Once they were engaged, Nina would be his fiancée. He wouldn’t have to worry about her leaving him again.

Nina looked at him calmly. Then, right as Ryan waited with hop all over his face, she kicked him away. “Get lost. I never give a man a second chance.”

With that, Nina walked off.

Ryan, furious, rushed after her. “You think you can just run away”

Nina and Ryan ran out one after the other, leaving the rest of the hall stunned.

Maria cleared her throat, looking embarrassed. “I’m sorry, Sarah Everything that happened today really was our fault. I had no idea Ryan already knew Nina. If I’d known, none of this confusion would’ve happened.”

Sarah sighed. Maria didn’t know, and neither did she.

Yesterday, she had sensed something off when Nina heard Ryan name, like she was trying to avoid something. She didn’t expect Nina and Ryan to have dated.

“This isn’t your fault,” Sarah said. “But we should talk about the engagement another time. I don’t think Nina wants it right now, and we can’t force her to marry Ryan.

“You know how long it took me to find her. I don’t want her upse”

“I understand.” Maria patted Sarah’s hand. “Then we’ll discuss the engagement later. Let Nina and Ryan work things out on their own. If Nina changes her mind someday, we’ll finalize it then.”

“All right,” Sarah said.

The two older women chatted and laughed as if none of this had affected them at all. Vivian and Lily, however, did not look pleased.

Vivian couldn’t even bring herself to stay. Without saying goode to Maria, she grabbed Lily and left.

The Swansons exchanged looks and decided they shouldn’t stay ither. One by one, they left as well.

Only Ethan remained. From the moment Ryan walked in and asked Nina why she broke up with him, Ethan had been standing there with his mouth wide open, unable to close it.

When the hall finally emptied. Sarah smacked the back of Ethan head. Only then did he slowly snap out of it.

He gasped. “Oh my god, Nina is insane. She not only took Ryan virginity, but also dumped him? No other girl has ever pulled that off, right?”

Sarah shot him a look. “Shut up. Nina was getting bullied just now, and you stood there like a coward. Why didn’t up for her?”

Ethan scratched the back of his head awkwardly. “I was just too shocked. My brain froze.”
