“Mr. Foster already gave the order,” the head of security replied respectfully. “Don’t worry, Ms. Swanson. I’ll make sure none of them leave.”

Nina nodded and headed upstairs.

Just as Nina pushed open the door to Sarah’s room, her phone started ringing.

Nina glanced at the ID, her expression changing instantly. She answered right away, “Grandma’s been poisoned, and I can’t figure out what the toxin is.”

Before Nina could finish, the person on the other end cut her off and said, “Blood transfusion, now!”

Nina was stunned. “What?” she asked.

“Without an antidote, a blood transfusion is the only way to purge the poison,” the voice said. “Nina, listen, I have one minute. The key is with Iris. Retrieve the human mutagen from the basement and give it only to the authorities.

“And, my daughter, Nina, could you check on her for me?”

Before Nina could say a word, the line went dead.

Nina’s grip on her phone tightened.

Two seconds later, Nina immediately called Simon.

As soon as the call connected, Simon blurted out, “Nina, I was just about to call you. Iris is dead.”

“What did you just say?” Nina replied, her aura turned icy cold, like she’d fallen into a frozen abyss.

‘Scarlet had just called me, and now Iris was dead?’ Nina thought, her mind spinning.

“I got a distress call from Iris an hour ago and rushed over with my team, but I was too late. She was ripped apart; it was brutal. And all the other girls in that area are gone too,” Simon said.

Nina narrowed her eyes, but before she could say anything, Ryan said, “Nina, let me take care of this. You focus on saving grandma.”

Nina paused for a moment, then said, “Ryan’s heading over now. Just wait for him.”

After hanging up, Nina turned to Ryan and said, “The mutagen’s probably already gone. Watch yourself out there.”

Even if she and Ryan never ended up as a couple, she still didn’t want anything bad to happen to him.

“Yeah, I get it,” Ryan said after a brief pause. “Felix will stay here to help you. Nina, try to keep your cool, okay?”

Nina knew Ryan was worried she’d go off the rails on the Swansons if Sarah didn’t pull through. Nina glanced at Sarah lying in bed and said, “For Sarah’s sake, I’ll hold myself back.”,

But how long she could actually,hold back, she couldn’t guarantee.

Ryan didn’t stick around; he headed out immediately.

Not long after Ryan left, Felix returned.

Nina told him to give the two poisonous herbs to Louis and the others.

The three jumped straight into the experiment.

Nina sat by Sarah’s bedside, gently holding her hand, and said, “Grandma, you don’t want to see me go crazy, right? So hang in there. Whatever it costs, I’ll bring you back.”

Sarah’s eyes flickered, her gaze shifting as if she wanted to speak, but no words came out, no matter how hard she tried.

Half an hour later, Louis and his colleagues walked in with their findings.

Louis looked disappointed. He said, “We’ve got the results. Sorry, but the new toxin we tested doesn’t match the one in Mrs. Swanson’s system.”

Just then, Felix’s phone rang.

The person on the other side said something unknown, then Felix only replied, “Got it,” then told Nina, “Everyone who went on the picnic has been checked. No issues.”

Nina frowned, then stood up and said to Felix, “I want you to search every inch of this house; leave no stone unturned. Check absolutely everything that exists in here, don’t let a single thing slip by.”

Then she turned to Louis and said, “Can you three help with the search, too? They might not be able to tell one medicine from another.”

“Sure,” Louis replied.

After that, Nina led the people downstairs without giving the Swansons a single glance and directly told the head of the bodyguards, “Take all of them to the courtyard and question them one by one.”
