Ryan’s bodyguards were all highly trained, and they quickly rounded up the Swanson family, confining them in a designated
area.
Everyone except Ethan got grilled with harsh questions.
Some of the younger Swansons, like Hazel and Henry, went along with it.
But the rest? They were anything but cooperative.
As the bodyguards escorted them out, the Swansons kept hurling insults at Nina, over and over.
“Nina, you ungrateful thing. We’re your elders, and you actually let these people grill us like this? How can you be so cruel?” one of the Swansons spat.
“Let us go. This is the Swanson family business. Why are you letting a bunch of outsiders boss us around in our own home?” another snapped.
“Don’t think Ryan will protect you forever. Those cheap tricks won’t last, and when he’s done, he’ll drop you. Have you considered what happens when those you’ve angered return?”
Every Swanson, young and old, had something nasty to say to Nina.
Nina stood on the steps, her face blank as she stared them down. She said, “If anything happens to my grandma, every single one of you is going down with her.
“You’d better start thinking about who had the guts to poison my grandma. If I find out who did it, maybe you’ll catch a break. If not, trust me, they’ll make you wish you never crossed me.”
The Swansons were stunned by Nina’s chilling aura. For a moment, they genuinely believed Nina might actually make them pay with their lives.
No one dared reply to Nina anymore. They asked James, “Are you just going to let Nina treat us like this? Mom’s poisoned, we’re hurting, but she won’t let us see her, and we’re locked down like criminals. What if this gets out?”
James shot Nina a cold look, then said coldly, “Enough. All of you, shut your mouths.”
The Swansons went dead quiet.
James said flatly, “Nina’s already spelled it out for you. If you want to walk out of here in one piece, you’d better spill everything you know. If you really care about Mom, then you should want to find out who did this to her.”
James swept his cold gaze over the room. He said, “And it’s not just you; I’m being held and interrogated, too. Am I, Nina’s own father, somehow less than you?”
The Swansons fell silent.
They thought, ‘Nina really is cold-blooded. Not only them, she even had James thrown in as well. She made sure everyone in the house got grilled, except Ethan. But why does Ethan get a free pass?’
Although they had many thoughts, nobody dared to say them out loud.
Everyone knew that, in the Swanson family, the only person Nina really cared about besides Sarah was Ethan.
Anyone in the Swanson family could have poisoned Sarah, but Ethan definitely did not.
He might be clever, but he was never the favorite in the family.

If it were about the family fortune, Ethan had no reason to get involved; no matter how sliced, the Swanson family’s wealth would never end up in his hands.
Plus, Sarah was always good to Ethan.
Other than Nina, Ethan was the only grandkid Sarah really liked.
The Swansons didn’t say another word and just cooperated with the investigation.
Seeing the Swansons finally quiet down, Nina turned to Ethan and said, “Ethan, go help out with the investigation, okay?”
Ethan nodded and replied, “Got it.”
Ethan was fuming. Not in his wildest dreams did he think his own family could be this cold-blooded, would actually go so far as to poison Sarah.
Sarah was always kind, never made enemies, or held a grudge. Even after Nina came back and she favored Nina a little more, she still treated everyone else the same. She rarely said a harsh word, unless someone really crossed the line.
Ethan thought, ‘Even if some of them didn’t like Grandma, it’s hard to believe anyone would actually want her dead. Unexpectedly, they not only did, but also used poisoning, a truly malicious method.
