Chapter 125
Chapter 125
Ethan swore he’d hunt down whoever did this to his grandma, no matter what it took.
So he didn’t waste a second and jumped right in to help with the investigation.
Nina didn’t spare the Swansons another glance.
Scarlet said that if they wanted to flush the poison out, they’d have to do a full blood replacement.
It was the fastest and most effective way, but the fallout could be brutal. Worst case, it could even take Sarah’s life.
So, unless she had no other choice, Nina didn’t want to take such a gamble.
Nina had to hunt down where the poison came from, and fast. As long as she figured out what was in it, she could whip up an antidote.
Nina stood on the steps, looking around and sizing up the whole Swanson house. Suddenly, her eyes flicked over to the
garage.
Everyone was busy searching every room and every nook, but nobody had bothered to check the garage. Nina narrowed her eyes and called out to Paul, who was nearby. “Dr. Berger, come with me to the garage.”
Paul nodded and followed Nina over.
The Swanson family had a ton of people, and just as many cars. Just James’s side alone had five rides.
Nina told Paul to check out the other cars, while she went over to the one Sarah had used that day.
Sarah never stuck to one car. She hardly ever left the house, and if she did, she’d just grab whichever ride wasn’t being used. That day, Sarah took James’s car.
Nina popped the door open and checked the car inside and out, but there was nothing out of the ordinary anywhere.
With a grim look on her face, Nina was about to check the next car when Ethan came running over, breathless. He said, “Hey, Nina, someone’s missing from the house.”
Nina parrowed her eyes. “Who?” she asked.
“The driver, Carl,” Ethan said. “I checked Mrs. Swanson’s room, noticed someone missing, went downstairs, and found Carl has been on leave for two days.”
Nina didn’t waste a second; she spun around and strode off.
She’d barely taken two steps when Paul suddenly shouted, “Ms: Swanson, come here, quick!”
Earlier upstairs, Nina had told them they could just call her by her name.
But Paul and the others felt it was a bit disrespectful to the famous Miracle Doctor, so they ended up calling Nina Ms. Swanson instead.
Nina rushed over.
”
“Do you notice anything weird about the smell in here?” Paul asked, his expression grave. “It’s not perfume.”
Nina didn’t hesitate; she pulled the car door open and climbed inside.

Chapter 125
There was a faint scent in the car, but after a few days, it was so weak you’d barely notice unless you were really paying
attention.
That smell was off, definitely not perfume.

Nina was super sensitive to perfume; she could spot it in a heartbeat. But this scent was different. It was kind of like an herb- based smell, but not medicine-y at all.
The scent was similar to what happened when Grace got poisoned last time. Only, the scent in the car wasn’t quite the same as the one on Grace.
Nina gave the car a thorough once-over, and her eyes finally landed on a charm hanging from the rearview mirror. She took it off and brought it close to her nose. The moment she did, a wave of dizziness hit her.
Nina quickly pricked one of her acupoints with a silver needle, and the dizziness vanished in an instant. Nina got out of the car and handed the charm to Paul. She said, “Extract whatever’s in this, right now.”
“On it,” Paul said, clutching the ornament as he rushed off to call for Louis and Oscar.
After Paul left, Ethan’s eyes went wide as he stared at the car, totally stunned. He asked, “Nina, are you saying Grandma got poisoned by that thing?”
“That’s most likely it,” Nina said, her voice serious and her expression dark.
Ethan’s face drained of color. He said, “It wasn’t me. I swear, I have no clue how that thing got in my car. It seriously wasn’t there before.”
