Chapter 127

Chapter 127

“Got it,” Felix replied and left.

After Felix left, Nina turned to Paul and the others. She said, “I need you guys to keep an eye on my grandma from now on. Don’t touch the silver needles in her body until I’ve figured out the antidote.”

“Okay,” Paul replied.

Paul hesitated for a moment, then asked, “Ms. Swanson, if you manage to develop the antidote, could you share the formula

with us?”

Nina nodded. “Sure.”

With Nina’s approval, Paul and the others left the room.

Nina didn’t waste a second. She sat down and got straight to work on the antidote. Before, she couldn’t figure out the poison; she couldn’t risk making a move. But now that she’d tracked it down, it was a breeze for her.

Honestly, a poison like this was child’s play for her. But when it came to her grandma, Nina was extra careful with every single step.

Nina was totally focused on figuring out the antidote, while the experienced doctors stood behind her, watching her every move. The more they watched, the more amazed and unsettled they felt.

Two hours later, Nina finally got to her feet, grabbed the antidote she’d just perfected, and strode out of the room. After Nina left, the doctors in the room looked at each other in disbelief. They discussed, “She actually finished the antidote already?”

“This girl is something else. I’ve never even heard of a poison like this before, but she went from identifying it to whipping up the cure in just two hours, and she didn’t even hesitate for a second.”

“No kidding! If it were me, I’d need at least a week to figure out an antidote, and I’d have to stop a bunch of times just to check the references.”

“She looks super young, but her skills are insane. And with the way Dr. Berger and the others respect her, maybe she’s the disciple of some legendary master.”

“Doesn’t matter who trained her, someone this good, I’m telling my hospital ASAP. If we could get her to give a talk, it’d be a total game-changer.”

As soon as he said that, everyone pulled out their phones in a flash and started calling their hospitals.

Meanwhile, Nina gave the antidote to Sarah.

In just ten minutes, Sarah woke up.

“Nina, Sarah opened her mouth to speak, her voice sounding raspy, probably because she hadn’t spoken all day.

“I’m here, Grandma,” Nina said, helping her sit up.

Sarah had been lying down the whole day; she really needed to change positions or her back would be killing her.

Sarah took Nina’s hand and gently patted it. Sarah said, “It’s all thanks to you, Nina.”

Sarah had so much she wanted to say, and so many questions she wanted to ask.

Sarah thought, ‘For instance, how did Nina learn to be a doctor? And how did she get so good at it? When the symptoms hit, I felt like death was just around the corner. But in no time at all, Nina had completely cured me.

‘Maybe Frank’s wish had finally come true; the Swanson family’s legacy of medicine finally had someone to carry it forward:

Sarah had a thousand thoughts, but when she saw Nina’s calm, distant face, she just couldn’t get the words out.

Nina squeezed Sarah’s hand in return. She’d always kept her feelings locked away, but now her nose stung. Nina said, “Grandma, you have to stay healthy. I still want to throw you a big party for your seventieth, eightieth, and even hundredth birthday.”

“Promise me,” Sarah said softly, catching the sheen of tears in Nina’s eyes. She ached to offer more comfort but feared overwhelming Nina. “You need to take care of yourself, too. I want to be there to see you walk down the aisle.”

“Okay,” Nina replied.

Nina smiled and spent some time chatting with Sarah, keeping her company. Then, her expression turned icy as she got up and made for the door.

Sarah called after her, “Nina, where are you going?”

Nina’s lips curled into a cold, ruthless smile. She said, “After everything you’ve suffered, someone’s gonna pay for this.”

Sarah tried to say something, but Nina didn’t let her get a word in; she just turned and walked out.

Sarah just let out a helpless sigh.
