Waverly snapped, “What do you mean? She’s my mom. You’re not letting us sit with her?”

Raymond replied, “Ms. Swanson already set the seating for Sarah’s table. Your seats aren’t at this table. Please follow me.”

Waverly’s expression turned awkward.

She glared at Nina and demanded, “Seriously, Nina? You are not letting us sit with Sarah. Are you just trying to mess with us?”

Nina didn’t even look at her. She just turned to Sarah and said, “Grandma, just relax. I need to take care of something.”

As soon as Nina stood up, Ryan got up, too. He said, “I’ll go with you.”

Nina frowned and said, “No need. I can handle it myself.”

Nina arched her brows and replied, “Alright.”

After Nina left, Raymond invited Heather and the other old ladies to take their seats at the main table.

Maria was already at Sarah’s table, so she stayed right where she was.

“Why’d they stick all us old ladies at the same table? It’s your birthday, Sarah. Shouldn’t you be sitting with your family?” Heather asked, looking confused.

Sarah just smiled and said, “Nina set it up this way, so let’s just go with it. Besides, I really don’t want to sit with my sons and daughters-in-law. They just get on my nerves.”

The whole house had been a mess since this morning, and it really put her in a bad mood.

But sitting here with her old friends, just shooting the breeze and sharing a few laughs, was just what she needed.
