She clutched her belly and glared at Bradly. “If you try to sell this house, I absolutely won’t allow it.

“The house is under my name. If I don’t agree, you can’t sell it without my permission.”

Hearing Shanna keep using the baby as an excuse, Bradly was getting seriously annoyed. “Even if you don’t sell the house, do you have to keep bringing up the baby every time?”

“I don’t care! I’m pregnant, and you’re going to have to marry me eventually. I get that your company’s strapped for cash, but asking me to sell my house for money? Forget it!”

Shanna made her point, then her eyes flickered as she suddenly asked Bradly, “If you really have to sell a house, shouldn’t it be your mom’s? Your family’s place is way better, isn’t it?

“If you put that one on the market, it’d be way more useful than selling mine.”

Shanna hugged her belly and walked over to Bradly.

“I know things have been rough for us lately, but I’m only bringing this up because I care about you,” she said softly.

As she spoke, Shanna slipped into Bradly’s arms, playing the sweet, understanding girlfriend.

She even grabbed his hand and guided it to her belly, letting him feel the baby.

Bradly had been about to head out, but with Shanna acting all soft and clingy, he couldn’t help but feel better.

And knowing there was a little life waiting for him helped calm his nerves.

Seeing Bradly’s face relax, Shanna scooted closer and lowered her voice. “If you just sell your family’s house, all our problems will be solved… and I’ll be able to focus on the baby, right?”

No matter what, there was no way Shanna was letting Bradly sell the house he’d given her.

If she lost that, she’d lose all her leverage with them.

Shanna didn’t have much to her name, just this house and a couple pieces of jewelry.

But Shanna just pushed him, “What’s there to think about? Just do what I said.”

In the end, Bradly had no choice but to bite the bullet and make the call.

When he got home, he talked it over with Nadine right away.

Ever since Nadine publicly backed Bradly, Milford knew he was just the adopted son.

If he hadn’t made a name for himself and built up a solid reputation over the years, the Woodard family probably would’ve kicked him to the curb a long time ago.

Stella noticed Milford hesitating and said seriously, “She’s still your adoptive mom, after all. I think you owe her some support. Why not let her have one of your places to live in?”

“Doesn’t it bother you? After the way she treated you before?” Milford asked.

When Milford was weighing his options, he really did think about having Nadine come live with him.

Stella was right. Nadine was still his adoptive mom.

Back when Nadine was in the hospital, Milford had been there for her, doing everything he could.

But now she’d sold the family home without saying a word to him. Clearly, she knew she was choosing Bradly over him, and just didn’t have the guts to say it to his face.

That tiny bit of disregard felt like a lump in Milford’s throat. He just couldn’t shake it off.

“Honestly, it’s not like I don’t see it. She hasn’t exactly been great to me…” Milford said quietly.

Stella could tell Milford was really struggling, so she moved over and sat right next to him, gently leaning her head on his shoulder.

Stella squeezed his hand and said softly, “Have I ever told you what I said to myself when my parents passed away?”
