“You’ve got three days to think it over. If I don’t see the 30 million and the formula by then, don’t blame me for what happens next,” Stella said coldly.

With that, Stella walked off with her back straight, cane in hand, not looking back.

James stood frozen in the pavilion. For such a big, strong man, he looked more lost and alone than ever.

James jumped up, his voice raw with anger. “Mom, I’m the one who caused all this trouble. If I go to jail, they can’t touch the Swanson family anymore.”

“You idiot!” Sarah snapped. “They set up such a massive scheme back then. Do you really think they’ll just walk away? Even if you end up behind bars, they won’t back off.”

James collapsed into his chair, looking completely defeated. “So what now? Are we really supposed to give up Dad’s formula?”

If all the Lowell family wanted was the 30 million, James would’ve figured something out. He’d pay up if it meant saving the Swanson family.

But they even want his dad’s formula now.
