But what Sarah felt most was a pang of worry for Nina. She hadnt realized how badly Nina had suffered all those years. Her precious granddaughter, whom she loved so much, had been forced to scavenge through garbage just to survive.

If it hadn’t been for Scarlet, Nina might not even be alive today. Thinking of that, Sarah felt even more grateful to Scarlet and resolved to find a way to thank her properly.

Before she could finish, Nina suddenly turned her head. “What, are you going to lecture me?”

“I…” Lily’s words caught in her throat.

She had seen Martin get kicked and spit blood by Nina while trying to lecture her. Nina was practically insane. Lily worried that if she said one more word, she might get kicked too.

So she fell silent.

Martin, sitting nearby with bandages wrapped around him, was about to speak when he caught Nina’s lightly floating glance directed at him. He decisively lowered his head and kept eating. His injuries weren’t healed yet, and he didn’t want to risk getting a new one.

Nina was satisfied and walked straight over to sit beside Sarah. She had already eaten, so she didn’t want anything to eat, but she obediently stayed to keep Sarah company at the table.

After dinner, James, who had been silent the whole time, finally spoke up. “SN Corporation just launched a new project, worth three hundred million. If we can land it, the Swanson family’s position in Riverdale will rise even higher.

“But SN Corporation has very high standards. Our company has submitted more than a dozen proposals, all of them rejected. Does anyone here have a better plan?”

Hearing this, Martin lowered his head.

The Swanson family had long wanted to cooperate with SN Corporation, but whether it was small projects in the past or this massive 300-million-dollar deal, every proposal they submitted was returned without approval,

Martin had spent a whole month working overtime to create what he believed was a perfect plan. But the SN Corporation executive barely glanced at it for two minutes before dismissing as unoriginal and worthless.

It was a huge blow to Martin.

James was very serious about this project. After seeing Martin’s peated rejections, he had grown disappointed and was now considering passing the project to someone else in the family. Whoever landed this contract would get the director position at the company.

Martin had worked hard for years and was still just a department manager. He wanted another chance, but James wasn’t giving him one.

“SN Corporation?” Nina leaned back in her chair, her voice laced with interest.

“Our family has already submitted more than a dozen proposals all rejected. You want her to send in some trash and completely ruin our chances?”

Sarah’s face darkened instantly.
