Martin looked seriously pissed. “I’m not here to waste time arguing with you. Right now, we need to figure out how to fix this

mess.”

“Are you out of your mind?” Ethan snapped, rolling his eyes. “Lamelle already said she’s got a way to settle this, and she can do it all at once. It won’t even take long.

“Just swallow your pride, apologize, and let her help. Is that reall so hard for you?”

“This is our family’s problem to handle,” Martin said quietly, his one heavy.

“Bullshit!” Martin finally snapped, his voice booming with rage. “If I wanted Dad to go to jail, I wouldn’t have bothered with any of this!”

“So what now? All this arguing is pointless! The Lowell family will be knocking on our door any minute. Are we seriously just going to hand over the formula?” Ethan shot back.

“I…” Martin tried to protest.

But he had nothing to say.

He shot a glance at Elaine, who was sitting off to the side, idly scrolling through her phone and hadn’t said a single word during the whole argument.

After wrestling with his pride for what felt like forever, Martin finally stood up and bowed to Elaine. “I’m sorry. Lanelle, please. I’m really asking for your help. Lend us a hand and help the Swanson family out of this mess.”

“Come on, I’m just an outsider. I can’t meddle in your Swanson family business,” Elaine replied, not even looking up her phone.

Martin’s face was grim, but he forced himself to speak. “I know I said the wrong thing last time, and I hope you can let it go. If this doesn’t get resolved, the Swanson family might really be done for.

“You’re Nina’s friend. If you won’t do it for us, then at least do it or her, Please, help us out this once.”

Just then, Elaine’s phone started ringing. She glanced at the call ID, got up, and said, “Sorry, I don’t forget when people cross me. I’m not getting involved in this.”

With that, Elaine walked off to the side to take her call.

After a moment, she came back. “Mrs. Swanson, I need to head back to Seabridge for a bit. Got something to take care of. Just stay home and don’t go anywhere. If you need anything, reh out to Max.”

She paused, and then added, “Since that formula means so much to the Swanson family, don’t hand it over. I’m not getting involved in this, but whether Nina wants to step in or not, that’ser call, not mine.

“Just wait and see what she decides when she gets back.”

While everyone in the Swanson family was stressing out, trying figure out what to do, a bodyguard rushed in and leaned over to whisper something to Max.

“Max, we found some strange powder on the grass behind Mrs. Swanson’s room. Do you want to go check it out?” the bodyguard asked in a low voice.

Max’s expression changed instantly.

‘Strange powder? Is someone trying to poison her?’ Max thought his heart skipping a beat.

He’d been keeping an eye on everyone in the Swanson residence these past few days. ‘Who could’ve slipped something in without me noticing?’ he wondered.

Max gave Sarah a quick heads-up, and then headed out with his team to check it out.
