Chapter 212

Chapter 212

Two hours later.

The Swanson family was having dinner.

Suddenly, a commotion erupted at the front door.

Sarah furrowed her brows and glanced toward the door. “What’s all that noise outside?”

“Ma’am, I’ll go check it out,” Anna said.

She stepped outside, and then hurried back in.

She said, “It’s Mrs. Lowell and her people causing a commotion the gate. They want to see you and Mr. Swanson. Max and his men are trying to hold them back, but…”

“She hesitated. “Mrs. Lowell just sat down at the gate, wailing and throwing a tantrum, accusing you of mistreating your daughter-in-law and kicking her out of the house…”

She didn’t dare finish the sentence.

She was afraid Sarah might get so angry that she’d faint.

“Damn it! They actually have the nerve to show up here? I’ll have someone kick them out!” Ethan muttered under his breath.

Sarah shot Ethan a helpless look. ‘Why is this kid acting so crazy just like Nina?’ she thought.

She pulled out a tissue, wiped her mouth, and said calmly to Anna, “Let Max bring them in. We can’t have them causing a ruckus at the door all day.”

“Yes, ma’am,” Anna replied.

After Anna stepped out, Stella stormed in with a whole posse trailing behind her, making a scene as they entered.

“So, have you made up your minds yet? I’m telling you, my patience has its limits. If I don’t get what I want today, this in-law relationship is over. I’m ready to burn this bridge and cut ties for good,” Stella snapped.

She sat herself down on the living room sofa with a commanding air, while several burly, hostile-looking men stood behind her, exuding a dangerous vibe.

“I can give you 30 million, but the formula is out of the question” James said coldly, his face hardening.

Stella said, “James, you’d better know your place! I’m not here to negotiate. I’m here to tell you what’s going to happen! 30 million and the formula. No exceptions!

“And I want you and your mother to personally go to the Lowell esidence, apologize to Vivian, and bring her back in style!”

“No way!” James shot back without hesitation.

He and Vivian had never had any real affection as husband and wife, and now there was only pure hatred between them.

Asking him to apologize to that woman was like dragging his dignity and the Swanson family’s reputation through the mud. There was no way he’d ever do that.

Sarah’s face darkened. “Don’t go too far.”

Stella, completely unfazed, sneered, “Since you refuse to show any respect, don’t blame me for getting nasty.”

“Oh, really?” someone smirked.

Just as Stella finished speaking, a cold, clear voice rang out from the doorway.

Then, a slender figure walked in.

Nina’s cold gaze swept over the room before landing on Stella. “Was that you barking just now?”

“How dare you!” Stella was shaking with fury, jabbing a trembling finger right at Nina.

Suddenly, Stella clutched her finger and shrieked. Everyone watched in shock as her finger visibly swelled up, turning red in an instant.

“I don’t like it when people point at Nina,” Ryan said with icy calm.

He pulled out a wet wipe and nonchalantly cleaned his fingers, his expression so cool as if he hadn’t done anything at all.

Nina shot Ryan a glance, then strode over to Sarah and flashed her a soft smile. “Grandma, I’m back.”

“I’m just glad you’re home,” Sarah said, holding Nina’s hand and letting out a relieved sigh.

For some reason, seeing Nina walk through that door just made her feel at ease, like everything was finally okay.

Nina turned to Stella, and the gentle warmth she’d just shown Sarah vanished in a heartbeat. Her presence snapped into something fierce and intimidating.

She strode over and claimed the seat right beside Sarah, sitting there like royalty, surveying the crowd with a cold, imperious gaze.

She lounged back in her chair, her slender fingers accepting the cup of coffee that Anna handed her.

She took a slow sip, her voice cool and unruffled. “Seems like things have been pretty lively around here while I was gone.”

The Lowell family, who’d been making all that noise just moments ago, suddenly went dead silent.

It wasn’t Nina they were scared of. It was Ryan, looming right behind her.

They never saw it coming that Ryan would be back so soon.

The Swanson family fell silent, too, but unlike the Lowells, it was Nina who had them on edge.

Nína gave everyone a cold once-over. “What happened? You we all running your mouths a minute ago, and now it’s dead quiet. Did I crash the party or something?”
