Chapter 220
Nina’s gaze flickered. Ryan never told her that he was the one who had Clara taken away.
“Honestly, I don’t really know the details. My aunt’s in-laws couldn’t find her, so they went to the Sinclair family,” Elaine said offhandedly. “My grandma told my dad to go look for her.”
Nina fell silent.
Elaine and Elowen were always at odds.
Elowen didn’t like Elaine’s parents, and that dislike extended to laine herself.
But Elowen was ruthlessly practical.
She might not have liked Elaine’s family, but she still leached off them every chance she got.
Elaine and Elowen had gone head-to-head more times than anyone could count.
Every single time, Elowen ended up getting the short end of the stick.
Since she couldn’t control Elaine, she’d target Elaine’s parents instead.
Elaine’s parents put family duty above all else, so they kept giving in, which drove Elaine up the wall.
That was exactly why Elaine couldn’t stand staying in Seabridge.
“Her own daughter goes missing, and instead of lifting a finger, she dumps it all on my dad,” Elaine scoffed.
She said, “That old bat knows damn well my dad can’t find her, so she’s just using this to threaten him and try to snatch his shares in the company for herself.”
Nina frowned. “Do you need any help?”
“No need,” Elaine replied coldly. “This is just a small thing. I can handle it myself. As long as I’m still breathing, that old bat can dream about getting my dad’s shares. She’ll have to get through me first.”
Nina paused for a moment. “So,
any plans for your aunt?”
“What’s there to solve? Dead or alive, doesn’t matter to me at all, Elaine said with zero emotion. “I only call her ‘Aunt’ because of my dad. If she thinks I actually give a damn, she’s dreaming.”
Nina thought for a few seconds, and then said, “Alright, got it.”
Elaine paused, surprised. “Wait, you know where she is?”
“No idea,” Nina said. “But she poisoned Ryan’s mom, and you knew Ryan. He’s not gonna let her off easy. Just giving you a heads-up. I don’t know if he’s already caught her or not, so I’ll check and let you know,”
“Don’t bother letting me know. Just let Ryan deal with her however he wants,” Elaine said, her tone cold. “Whether she lives or dies means nothing to me, as long as she doesn’t threaten ou side of the family”
Nina nodded. “Alright.”
After exchanging a few words with Elaine, Nina hung up.
Then she opened her door and went to Ryan’s room.

Meanwhile, Ryan had just hung up with a sullen face.
Nina pushed the door open and walked right in. “Clara’s missing Did you know?”

“Just found out,” Ryan said, his face dark. “The person watching her got drugged, and when he came to, Clara was already gone.”
Nina leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed, a half-smile playing on her lips as she looked at him. “So, it wasn’t you?”
Ryan rubbed his temples. “No.”
Nina looked genuinely surprised. “You found out she was the one who poisoned your mom, and you didn’t take her under control?”
She knew Ryan all too well.
With Ryan’s methods, if he ever found out Clara was the one who poisoned his mom, there was no way he’d let her off the hook.
Ryan let out a sigh. “Yeah, I messed up. I wanted to see who was really behind her, so I let her go. Sent someone to follow her, but she caught on and knocked my guy out with some powder.”
“Even the mighty Mr. Foster has an off day?” Nina teased, a playful glint in her eyes.
Ryan replied coolly, “Everyone screws up sometimes. Doesn’t matter. Clara’s not even on my radar.”
With that, Ryan stood up, grabbed Nina’s hand, and said, “Come on, let’s go.”
Nina asked, “What are we doing?”
“Just following your grandma’s orders. Taking you out shopping Ryan whispered in her ear, a sly grin on his face. “Gotta thank her for giving me this chance.”
Nina was speechless.
She was seriously starting to suspect Sarah had switched sides and was now in cahoots with Ryan.
That evening, when Nina and Ryan got back, Vivian and Lily were already at the Swanson residence.
When Lily saw the servants hauling in all the stuff Nina had bought, she couldn’t help but feel a pang of jealousy.
She hadn’t bought any new clothes in ages.
This season, the stores were packed with new arrivals. Sure, they couldn’t compare to Elaine’s designs, but honestly, the styles were actually really nice.
She wanted to buy them so badly.
But her aunt… her mom kept saying they were broke.
This whole mess with the Lowell family was her mom’s idea. She was low on cash and figured she could get some money out of James.
