Chapter 219

Connecting all the dots, Sarah was certain that Vivian and the Lowell family were scheming something.

As for what exactly they were plotting, Sarah knew she had to keep them close, right under her nose, if she wanted to get to

the bottom of it.

As for Linda… She was a little self-centered, but honestly, she was not all that bad. Having her go back to her folks was a wake-up call for her.

Besides, with Nina’s welcome party coming up, if someone was missing from the family, they knew how the rumor mill would get going.

“Whatever you decide works for me,” Nina said nonchalantly.

She hadn’t planned on taking action against the Lowell family just yet.

There were still some things she hadn’t gotten to the bottom of

Last night, Max took the weird powder he found in the little garden behind the room and handed it over to Nina to check

out.

After running some tests, she discovered the powder had traces of toxins. It was not enough to be deadly, but if someone kept taking it for a long time, it could seriously mess with their mind and cause mental decline.

Most importantly, that same powder turned up on the windowsill in Vivian’s room.

When Sarah was poisoned before, it was Matthew who did it, but that toxin wasn’t something one’d find on the market. It wasn’t some common stuff anyone could get their hands on.

It seemed more like some cutting-edge formula, probably just developed in a secret lab.

And this time, the poison they discovered wasn’t commercially available either. It was just as rare and mysterious.

But whether the poison found in Vivian’s room and the one Matthew used on Sarah came from the same person was still unclear. Nina needed to investigate.

Having Vivian right under her nose would definitely make it easier for Nina to investigate her.

Plus, last night, the Lowell family sent over the compensation money within the hour.

Nina passed the cash straight to Sarah and didn’t bother asking what she’d do with it.

Seeing that Nina didn’t object, Sarah breathed a sigh of relief.

She’d been worried Nina might not go along with it. If that happened, digging for answers would be way trickier.

“I’ll have them get their things together and come home,” Sarah hid. “Nina, your welcome party is coming up in a few days Lily said she’s got it all covered, so you can just relax.

‘Later, I’ll give you some money, and Ryan can take you out to shop for some new clothes and jewelry.”

Nina was about to say she had plenty of money herself, but before she could get a word in, Sarah interrupted, “This is just my way of showing my cares.

“I know Elaine always takes care of your wardrobe, so you’re never short on clothes, but you’ve been back for so long and 1 haven’t bought you a single thing. Honestly, it just doesn’t sit right with me.”

She’d actually wanted to buy something for Nina for a long time

And since all of Nina’s clothes were custom-made by Elaine, Sarah was afraid she’d end up buying something Nina wouldn’t

even want to wear.

So she kept thinking about getting Nina something else instead.

But she really had no idea what Nina actually liked.

This time, she decided to pay for everything and have Ryan escort Nina on a shopping trip. For one thing, it’d help them bond a little.

And for another, Nina could pick out stuff she genuinely liked, so it would work out perfectly.

Seeing Sarah’s kindness, Nina didn’t have the heart to refuse. “Sure,” she replied.

After breakfast, Nina went straight back to her room.

Ryan followed right behind her, about to step in, but Nina slammed the door shut in his face.

Ryan just stood there, stunned.

‘Nina, you’re ruthless!’ he thought to himself.

Just as she shut the door, her phone started ringing.

It was Elaine calling.

“Hey, Nina, I’m so sorry!” Elaine said, her voice full of concern. “Something came up at my place that day and I had to rush

out.

“I only found out later that the Lowell family barged into your house and stirred up trouble. Thank goodness you got back

in time!”

“No worries,” Nina said. “Did you get everything sorted out at home?”

Elaine hesitated for a moment before finally saying, “My aunt’s gone missing.”

Nina blinked. “Missing?”
