236.Chapter 236
The moment Nina spoke up, Sarah and Ethan started to panic.
“Nina, no!” Sarah said urgently. “How can you joke about your life? You’re already my chosen heir, and no one can change that.
“Just listen to me, please. We’re not getting involved in something this risky.”
Sarah shot Matthew a look filled with hatred.
She never thought Matthew could be this vicious.
First, he tried to kill her, and now he wants to kill Nina, too.
If Nina hadn’t said Matthew was involved in something and someone higher up was watching him, so they couldn’t touch him for now, Sarah would’ve called the cops and had him arrested on the spot.
But now, there was no way Sarah would ever agree to bet Nina’s life against Matthew.
“Nina, Matthew’s out of his mind. He’s dead serious about this. Please, don’t get caught up in his madness,” Ethan said, his voice full of worry.
He went on, “You’re the chairman of SN Corporation. You could handle ten Swanson families with ease. No one would dare challenge you. Plus, you’ve already beaten them several times.
“They’ve lost. We don’t need to play his game anymore.”
Ethan was honestly terrified.
When Matthew lost it, he didn’t care about anyone, not even his own flesh and blood.
And to make things worse, in Matthew’s eyes, Lily was the only sister he ever recognized. Nina didn’t even
exist to him.
If Nina dropped dead in front of Matthew today, he wouldn’t bat an eye.
Others said, “Nina, your grandma and Ethan are right. Don’t joke around with your life. At this point, nobody would dare stand in your way if you took over the Swanson family. There’s no need to keep competing.”
Everyone else in the Swanson family tried to convince Nina to drop out of the competition.
After all, this was literally risking her life.
And with Nina revealing herself as the chairman of SN Corporation today, plus showing off her talent in both piano and painting, she was already the most outstanding kid in the Swanson family.
None of the younger generation in the family could even come close to Nina.
Not even Matthew could measure up to her now.
The main branch always favored Lily, and they had everything planned out for Martin and Matthew. Nina was never even on their radar.
If Nina were to die at this welcome party today, the only ones who’d benefit would be the main branch.
Others thought, ‘Why should those heartless bastards get to have it all?’
Matthew smirked, a sly glint in his eyes. “Heh, looks like everyone’s too scared to let you compete, huh?”
“My life’s in my own hands. No one gets to call the shots for me,” Nina said, her tone icy. “Enough talk. What’s the challenge?”
“Nina…” Sarah called out.
Sarah couldn’t hide her worry as she watched Nina stand her ground.
Ryan suddenly chimed in, “Mrs. Swanson, you really don’t have to worry. Nina knows what she’s doing. She’s
made a living dancing on a knife’s edge, and that’s how she got to where she is now.
“Anyone who ever looked down on her? They’re probably six feet under by now.”

Sarah shot him a glare. “That doesn’t mean I can just let her do something this dangerous.”

‘Grandma, there’s no use persuading her anymore. If Nina’s made up her mind, nothing we say will change it,” Ethan said, glancing at Nina, who radiated confidence.
Maybe Sarah hadn’t really heard what Ryan said.
But Ethan had
He said that Nina had been surviving on a knife’s edge.
Ethan couldn’t imagine what she must have gone through to live like that.
But he knew one thing for sure. Nina never did anything unless she was absolutely certain she could pull it off.
Sarah just gave Nina one last look and didn’t say another word.
Nina set this whole thing up herself. She must know what she was doing.
Seeing Sarah and the others go quiet, Matthew let out a cold chuckle. He pulled a small ceramic bottle from his pocket and said, “Detoxification.”
Matthew threw the little bottle to Nina. “Here’s the deal: we each pick a poison, then swap and take them. Whoever cures themselves first wins. If you can’t, you die. Simple as that.”
Nina took the bottle, gave it a quick sniff, and a sharp glint flashed in her eyes.
She thought, ‘It was really him!’
