Nina shot Matthew a cool, dismissive glance, and then beckoned Raymond over with a wave.

Martin’s nerves went haywire all of a sudden. Panic hit him like a truck.

He stared hard at the bottle in Raymond’s hands, then, without thinking, he suddenly reached out and grabbed Matthew’s hand. “Just give up!” he blurted, his voice trembling.

Matthew stared at the bottle in silence.

Martin leaned in close, whispering in Matthew’s ear, “Trust me, don’t do this. The poison Nina brought? She’s dead serious. That stuff could really kill you!

“With that kind of backup, you really think she can’t get poison?”

“And even if she couldn’t, what about Ryan or Elaine?” Martin added, his voice tense. “With their connections, getting poison is nothing for them.”

Matthew’s other hand balled into a tight fist.

Honestly, with those connections, Nina could get her hands on a lethal poison without breaking a sweat.

Martin glanced at the silent Nina, his voice dropping to a whisper. “She’s coming for us. We can’t let any of our secrets get out. Shut down everything we’ve got running and leave this mess alone.”

Matthew and Martin kept muttering to each other for a while, and Nina didn’t interrupt.
