However, after their return, Matthew went straight to Martin’s room.

They had been talking for a full hour, and no one knew what they were discussing.

check.

But when she saw Ryan packing his bags, she paused in surprise. “Are you leaving, Ryan?”

“There’s been an issue in the Foster family, and I have to head back right away,” Ryan said as he packed the last item into his suitcase. “Mrs. Swanson, thanks for looking after me these days.”

“What are you saying? Of course I’d look after you, even if it’s just for your grandma’s sake,” Sarah replied.

Sarah couldn’t help but feel a little let down.

She’d been hoping to find ways to bring Nina and Ryan closer together after the party, maybe even play matchmaker a bit.

But she hadn’t expected Ryan to leave in such a hurry.

It seemed like she’d have to wait for a better opportunity next time.

Ryan exchanged a few polite words with Sarah, then picked up his suitcase and left.

Linda might be a little petty and selfish sometimes, but deep down, she was a real mom.
