Waverly’s face was livid, her voice cold and heavy. “Linda, are you seriously trying to humiliate me in front of everyone?”

“You started this,” Linda snapped. “We were all just talking about starting the pharmaceutical company, and you barged in spouting crap everywhere like you just ate shit.

“So you can dish it out but nobody else can talk back? Waverly, the only reason I’ve put up with you is for Sarah, but don’t think you can keep pushing me around. I’m done letting you get away with it.

“And another thing, Waverly, you’ve been staying at the Swanson residence long enough. Maybe it’s time you went back to your own place? When Joanna was here, she actually took care of Sarah’s meals and daily life. “What about you? All you ever do is eat and freeload off us. Is your husband’s family going broke and can’t afford to feed you or what? So you just come back here to mooch off your own family?”

Linda wasn’t like Vivian, who always had to tiptoe around Waverly and cater to her every mood just because she needed something from her.

She never bothered to sugarcoat her words.

Waverly was so pissed off that she was itching to slap Linda right there, but she didn’t dare.

Last time, Nina had already knocked her around, and she was even scarier. She wouldn’t hesitate to throw hands if one pissed her off.

If Waverly made a move at the dinner table, Nina would totally toss her out herself.

Waverly felt completely helpless. She turned to Sarah and pleaded, “Mom, are you really just going to sit there and watch while Linda bullies me?”

Sarah just glanced at her, totally unfazed. “So, did Linda say anything that wasn’t true?”

After the last birthday party, Sarah had already wanted to send Waverly back home.

But Nina said to let Waverly stay a while longer.

Nina had some things she needed to investigate.

Sarah didn’t know what exactly Nina was investigating, but since Nina wanted Waverly to stick around, she saw no reason to rush her out the door.

After all, Sarah figured Waverly wouldn’t just show up out of the blue. There had to be a reason behind it.

Sarah wanted to see for herself what Waverly was really plotting.

But after all this time, Waverly had been surprisingly well-behaved, except for those first few days when she tried to mess with Nina and got shut down hard.

She was so quiet that Sarah almost started to wonder if this was even her own daughter anymore.

But now, out of nowhere, she was stirring up trouble again.

“Mom, you…” Waverly’s face darkened with fury.

Just as Waverly was about to speak, Nina’s voice floated in, cool and mocking. “If you all need more space to fight, I can book you a private room at the Grand Crest Hotel.

“That way, you can argue all night without bothering the rest of us.”

Waverly immediately fell silent.

Linda just shrugged and didn’t say another word.

Nina gave everyone a cool, indifferent look. Once she saw they were all quiet, she pulled out her phone and made a call. “Uncle, how much longer until you get here?”

The Swanson family looked at each other in confusion. ‘Uncle? Who’s she calling?

‘Which uncle could she mean?

Before the Swanson family could even figure out who Nina was calling, the door opened and a man walked in, cutting off their confusion.

He looked like he’d rushed over, still a bit out of breath and sweat on his face. “Sorry, Nina, I got stuck in traffic and ended up running the last stretch. I’m late.”

“Perfect timing!” Nina said with a relaxed smile.

Nina asked the maid to set another spot at the table, and then spoke up, “Here’s the deal. Uncle Jeffrey is going to be the head of the pharmaceutical company, in charge of all drug research and development.

“Each branch of the Swanson family gets 5% of the shares, and Uncle Jeffrey gets 10%. Any daughters who’ve married outside the family won’t get a cut, but the unmarried girls each get 8%.

“That’s the Swanson family making sure our single daughters have some real clout!”
