Chapter 262

Chapter 262

Miranda kept pressing him with questions, leaving David frozen place.

William wiped his tears away. He had no idea Miranda had been through hell in Riverdale all these years.

But Miranda had never said a word about it.

Everything froze for a second. David stood there stunned and then finally came back to himself. “What the hell are you talking about? Your mom pulled some stunt to get into my bed.

“She found out Ruby was bringing her bid back so she swapped you and Emily Vows? I don’t even know who your mom is Who the hell would I make vows with?”

As soon as he finished speaking, David suddenly froze.

He thought. Wait, something’s not right. Why does the person Miranda described sound like Ruby?

Ruby was the only woman he’d ever loved, but Elizabeth refused to let her marry into the family.

Ruby was proud and headstrong. She left without a word, didnt even say goodbye

It took him a lot of effort to track her down to a nightclub in Riverdale.

He only found out later that Ruby was already pregnant when she left.

He wanted to see his child, but Ruby wouldn’t let him

He tried reaching out to her, but Ruby kept dodging him

Just like that, the kid was almost four years old.

The pain of being separated from Ruby and their child was too much for David. He even considered leaving the Hawthorne family just to be with her.

But Ruby told him she’d never be with him again, not in this lifetime.

David felt like his whole world was filling apart

He had no idea what he could do to win Ruby back

After thinking it over, he finally figured out a way: using their child’s future as leverage against Ruby

He knew Ruby loved their kid more than anything. If he could bring their child back into the Hawthorne family, she’d come back too.

If Ruby changed her mind, he’d take her and their kid and leave the Hawthorne family behind, never looking back

He kept reaching out to Ruby, trying to convince her, and then one day, out of nowhere, she called and said she wanted to send their child to him

The moment he first laid eyes on Miranda, no one knew just how happy he was

Miranda was his daughter. Of course he loved her

He gave Miranda the best of everything and did everything he could to take care of her

He’d always send Ruby pictures of Miranda

But then, out of nowhere, Ruby blocked him.

She cut off all contact, vanished from his life. David tried everyting, but it was like she’d disappeared off the face of the earth.

After that, he drowned himself in booze every single day.

Even drunk off his ass, he still made sure Miranda was taken care of.

But all that happiness crashed down when his sister brought a gil back.

Miranda’s emotional storm instantly calmed when she heard David explain.

She just stared at David for a long time and then finally said, “Loving you was my mother’s tragedy, and begging for your so- called fatherly love was mine.

“But it doesn’t matter anymore. I’m done calling you dad. To me you’re dead.”

“No!” David burst out, his voice thick with emotion. “Just tell me who your mother is.”

He could barely keep his voice steady.

He thought, ‘No way! This can’t be real! Miranda can’t be Ruby’s daughter!”

But Miranda couldn’t be bothered to say another word. She walked straight up to Nina and said, “Aunt Nina, I’m sorry. I can’t take revenge for myself right now, so I’m counting on you.”

Nina looked at Miranda and suddenly smiled.

All that fear and timidity was gone from Miranda’s face. Now she just looked calm and determined.

Nina thought, ‘Sure enough, Scarlet’s kid would never be a coward.’

Family could be a wonderful thing, but it could also be a venomous knife.

It could destroy one before one even realized what was happening.

Now that she was free from the grip of family ties, it was like a switch flipped in Miranda’s mind.

“Nina, the kennel’s ready,” Sean said as he walked over.

Throwing together a makeshift kennel was a piece of cake.

Getting the dogs was just as easy. Sean made one call to the dogmarket, and a dozen or so fierce mutts were delivered right to the place.
