Sarah picked up, and Waverly’s voice came through. “Mom, were you looking for me?”

Sarah snapped, “You damn brat, where the hell did you take Hazel?”

“Tsk, Mom, you don’t even care about your own daughter, but you spoil that useless granddaughter, Hazel. Once someone’s got connections, everything changes. Ever since Joanna started sucking up to Nina, you treat them like royalty.”

“Do you even have a heart? Hazel is your niece! How can you do this to her? Aren’t you afraid you’ll get what’s coming to you?” Sarah’s eyes blazed with fury.

“Everyone is out for themselves, Mom. You wouldn’t help me, so I’m out of options. I’m not here to chat. If you want Hazel back, cough up 300 million. Otherwise, she’ll end up as someone else’s toy.”

“Are you trying to push me over the edge? You know I don’t have that kind of money.”

“Maybe you don’t, but Nina does. The CEO of SN can easily come up with that much. That’s all I have to say. It’s your call.”

Sarah stared at her phone in disbelief, her chest tightening so much she could barely breathe.

Max quickly steadied her. “Sarah, try not to get too worked up. Waverly just wants money, so it’s something we can deal with. Nina has got the money.

“Maybe we should reach out to her first. Let’s keep things calm for now, and we’ll figure everything out once Nina gets back.”

Sarah clutched her chest, looking utterly defeated. “Ever since Nina returned, things have never been peaceful. She’s always the one fixing my problems. How could I possibly ask her for money?”

Every time she thought about it, guilt gnawed at her.

Nina had always had it tougher than anyone else growing up. Sarah could only guess at the hardships Nina had faced to become so tough.

Now that Nina was finally back, Sarah always talked about making it up to her, but in reality, there was so little she could do.

‘The stench is overwhelming.’

“Save her,” Morgan said, his gaze cold as he fixed on a nearby building.

He cracked his knuckles and strode toward the building.
