Nina shot him a sideways look, walked over, and checked out the canvas. A smirk played at her lips. “Looks like you’re getting rusty.”
“These losers? I’m making them look way better than they deserve,” Morgan scoffed. “Babe, don’t insult my masterpiece!”
Nina raised an eyebrow, stopped talking to him, and looked up at Waverly, Theodore, and Vance, all tied up.
As for the rest, she didn’t even spare them a glance.
Waverly met Nina’s gaze, panic rising in her chest. She swallowed hard and begged, “Nina, I was wrong. Please, let me go. I’ll apologize to Hazel myself. I promise I won’t mess up again.
“Nina, come on, I’m your Aunt. Just let me off this once, okay? I’ll pack up and leave Riverdale today. I swear I’ll never come back to the Swanson family.”
Nina didn’t say a word. She just glanced at Miranda, who was standing by the door. “Come over and sit down.”
Miranda did as she was told and took a seat beside Nina.
Only then did Nina turn to Waverly. “Leave Riverdale? Waverly, what are you talking about? I’m your niece. How could I bear to see you leave?”
Waverly was stunned. “What do you mean?”
‘If she is not letting me go… Is she really planning to kill me?’ Waverly thought.
“Waverly, you really are getting up there in years, huh? I spelled it out plain as day, and you still don’t get it?” Nina said slowly, her lips curling into a mocking smirk.
Waverly stayed silent, her eyes fixed nervously on Nina.
She had no idea what Nina was planning. Nina always had some new tricks up her sleeve.
She was terrified that if she said the wrong thing, she’d just piss Nina off all over again.
Seeing Waverly stay silent, Nina stood up, walked over, and crouched down in front of her.
Nina’s slender fingers gently adjusted the collar of Waverly’s shirt, her voice so soft it was almost unrecognizable. “Waverly, Grandma has had it rough all these years, holding the Swanson family together by
herself.
“All she ever wanted was for us to get along and for everything to go smoothly. After my trip to Betrico, I realized there’s nothing more important than family.
“As for what happened with Hazel, luckily it didn’t turn into something we couldn’t fix, so let’s just put it behind us. If you ever need money, just come to me.

“I don’t ask for much. All I want is for Grandma to enjoy her golden years without having to worry about the family.”
Nina’s words were so sincere, it was almost hard to believe.
Morgan’s hand paused mid-stroke, and he shot Nina a look that said it all.
‘Damn, Nina, when did you go back to drama school?’ Morgan thought.
Nina ignored Morgan’s look, pulled out a knife, and slowly cut Waverly loose. Then she helped her up.
“You need 300 million, huh? I’ll give you 600 million. Will that do for you?” Nina’s voice was dripping with honey.
Waverly was completely stunned.
She thought, ‘No way.
‘What is Nina playing at?
‘Why is she suddenly acting so nice to me?’
“Cat got your tongue? Not enough for you? How about 1.2 billion? Waverly, that’s the max I can do.” Nina rested her chin on her hand.
“Nina, what are you really up to?” Waverly couldn’t help but ask.
Nina sounded genuinely earnest. “Come on, Waverly, didn’t I just spell it out for you? Grandma’s only wish is for our family to get along and have some peace. I’m just helping her out, that’s all.
“Honestly, I don’t care much for you, but for Grandma’s sake, I’ll do whatever it takes. This money is just so you’ll treat Grandma a little better.”
With that, Nina pulled out her phone and transferred 1.2 billion to Waverly.
Then, in a gentle tone, she said, “Alright, Waverly, the money is yours. Now just stay put and watch how things play out.”
