Nina stared after Vivian as she hurried upstairs, zoning out for a moment. After a while, she just laughed out loud.

‘So that’s the real reason, huh? I was just born into the wrong family, Nina thought, a bitter smile tugging at her lips.

“Nina, are you alright?” Luna asked in a hushed voice, picking up on Nina’s gloomy mood.

Nina pulled herself together, her voice cool and detached. “I’m fine. Let’s go. Time to head to see Camden.”

Without another word, Nina spun around and walked out the door.

Luna watched Nina’s back as she walked away, and suddenly her heart went out to her. She shot an angry look upstairs and fumed, “Aunt Vivian is just too much! How could she say something like that? Nina must be really hurting right now!”

Linda frowned, her voice full of frustration. “Has Vivian totally lost it? If it were anyone else, finding out the daughter they always ignored turned out to be this incredible, they’d be bragging about it to everyone!

“But not her. She’s not even happy, just blaming Nina for being born into the wrong family. Like Nina ever had a choice!

“Seriously, if she didn’t want Nina, why have her at all? What kind of mom would do that? She has a kid and then refuses to love her.”

Linda had always had her own prejudices against Nina. She figured that, coming from a nightclub background, Nina would end up bringing all sorts of bad habits into the Swanson family.

of that, since Nina was Vivian’s daughter, Linda just didn’t like her, so she’d always find a way to throw a few snide remarks Nina’s way.

But Linda had never actually seen how things were between Nina and Vivian.

The only time she ever heard Vivian talk about Nina was at family dinners, and it was always just Vivian putting Nina down.

But Vivian had never actually said Nina ended up in the wrong family, or straight-up admitted she just didn’t like her.

After hearing Vivian say that today, Linda was totally stunned.

To Linda, parents were supposed to love their children. After all, a mother spent ten months carrying them and then brought them into the world.

Just like with her own two kids, she always wanted to give them everything she could. That’s just what being a

mom meant to her.

But with Vivian, it was like all those rules about being a mom just didn’t apply.

Chapter 318

Linda just couldn’t wrap her head around it, but her heart went out to Nina even more.

Now Linda finally got why Nina was always so odd.

If she’d ended up with a mom like that, she’d probably be even more messed up than Nina.

Sarah just quietly said, “Didn’t Nina say she’s taking you out? Why aren’t you going yet?”

Only then did Linda finally hurry out with Luna.

Once everyone had left, Sarah, leaning on Anna for support, made her way out to the garden.

She sat down on the bench, gazing at the flowers and plants in the garden, and let out a soft sigh. “Honestly, why did Nina have to be born as Vivian’s daughter? If she weren’t, wouldn’t that be so much better?”

Anna opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but in the end, all she could do was let out a silent sigh.

‘Yeah,’ Anna thought. ‘If only Nina weren’t Vivian’s daughter, things would be so much better for her. She wouldn’t have had to go through so much pain.’

But sadly, Sarah had secretly arranged a bunch of DNA tests between Nina and Vivian, and every single result confirmed that they really were mother and daughter.

Anna could still remember that before Sarah got the results, she’d looked at her with such hope in her eyes, wishing the test would prove they weren’t actually related to blood.

If that had happened, Sarah could’ve told Nina to go look for her real family. But her hopes were crushed.

“In five days, Betrico University will start, and Lily will be heading off to Betrico,” Sarah said, her voice calm and emotionless. “Vivian will be going with her. Once they’re gone, Nina won’t feel so weighed down anymore.”

Anna didn’t know what to say, so she just stayed silent.

Sarah reached out and picked a flower, murmuring to herself, “No matter how hard we try, we just can’t figure out who Lily’s real parents are. It’s so bizarre.”
