Nina felt a headache coming on just thinking about Chris.

Chris was an aerospace engineer, and he was absolutely obsessed with technology. He was practically glued to the research institute every single day.

Unless something urgent came up, he seldom left the institute. Even during holidays, he rarely came home.

Nina would only swing by to see Chris if she happened to be in Betrico and he crossed her mind.

Chris had always said he was going to devote his whole life to aerospace. Marriage wasn’t even on his radar. He’d already made peace with being single for the rest of his life.

So, getting Chris to come back to date girls was going to be a real uphill battle..

The food was ready in no time. Deborah asked Linda and Luna to dig in first.

Linda hesitated. “Mr. Garrett hasn’t come out yet. Is it really okay for us to start without him?”

Deborah smiled. “Don’t worry about him. As soon as he smells the wine, he’ll show up on his own.”

While Deborah was talking, Nina had already poured the wine.

At that moment, Camden dashed out, complaining, “You rascal, were you really going to drink without me? Come on, pour me a glass first.”

He’d been craving a sip of this for ages.

Linda hadn’t expected Camden to show up just for the wine and was caught off guard.

Then, as if remembering something, Linda suddenly dropped to her knees. “Mr. Garrett, it was my fault. I was the one who answered the phone that day. It had nothing to do with Luna.

“Some things happened at home, and I only said those to keep una safe. I’m really sorry. If you want to blame someone, blame me, but please, don’t stop teaching Luna.

“She’s finally found a teacher as amazing as you. We really can’t let this chance slip away.”

Camden glared at her, clearly annoyed. “So, what now? Standing me up once wasn’t enough. Now you’re interrupting my drink? Do you guys have a grudge against me or something?”

Linda was stunned. “I-I’m not interrupting your drink!”

“Not interrupting it? How am I supposed to drink with you kneeling there?” Camden shot back.

Linda was speechless. ‘Me kneeling here doesn’t stop him from drinking at all!’ Linda thought. Nina glanced at Linda and then said to Camden, “If you forgive her, you get two more drinks.” Camden stared at her and thought, ‘See? She’s totally siding with other people!’

Camden stayed silent, so Nina drawled, “I’ve got a whole case in my car. Guess I’ll just take it all back if you don’t want it.” The wine had just arrived yesterday. She couldn’t even bear opening a bottle for herself, but she brought it all for Camden. ‘It hurts to part with it!’ Nina thought. ‘I’ve gotta get something out of this.’

Camden cleared his throat, putting on a stern face. “Let me make this clear. This is the last time. If you pull this again, not even God himself could make me say forgive you.”

Linda immediately promised, “It won’t happen again.”

Luna chimed in, “Thank you, Mr. Camden.”

Camden just gave a haughty little snort and ignored them.

Nina grinned. “Aunt Linda, make sure to settle up for the wine with me later!”

“Oh, sure. How much is it? I’ll transfer it to you right now,” Linda eplied without hesitation as she pulled out her phone, ready to transfer the money to Nina.

After all, Nina had really gone out of her way to help. There was no way Linda was going to let Nina foot the bill herself.

“2 million,” Nina said.

“What?” Linda froze.

‘What kind of wine costs that much?’ she thought. ‘Is it made of gold or something? No way. Even if it was made of gold, it wouldn’t be this expensive, right?’

Linda seriously wondered if Nina was just trying to scam her.

“Nysa brewed it. A bottle is worth 2 million,” Nina said with a mischievous smile, shooting Linda a teasing look. “I only ask for just 2 million to purchase a case. I’m not overcharging you.”

‘That’s right, it was made by Nysa, Linda thought. “Okay, I guess that price makes sense. But still, that’s gonna hurt my wallet!’

Unlike James’ family, they received barely any shares, so their yearly cut was quite small, and the family’s expenses were already through the roof.

‘Dropping 2 million is too much. Whatever, for Luna, I’ll just go all in! Linda told herself.

Linda gritted her teeth and said, “Just send me your account number.”

Nina gave Linda a teasing half-smile, clearly up to something.

Linda was totally baffled. ‘Why is she just staring at me instead of giving me her account number? Linda wondered.

Luna instantly got what Nina meant. “Mom, she’s just joking with you. I bet she’s hoping you’ll make her some more of that soup.”
