345 Chapter 345

345.Chapter 345

“What?”

“Master?”

Vivian and Lily blurted out at the same time, their eyes wide as soucers. For a moment, they even wondered if they’d misheard.

They thought, ‘Did we just hear that Nina was Barry’s master? You’ve got to be kidding me.’

Nina might’ve gotten lucky and had some big shots backing her which let her become the CEO of SN Corporation.

But piano was a whole different ballgame.

It took years and years of hard work.

Barry was on a whole other level in the piano world, while Nina was just a nobody.

‘How could she possibly be Barry’s master?’ they thought.

It took Lily ages to finally wrap her head around what she’d just heard.

Her lips quivered as she looked at Barry, completely stunned. She asked, “Wait, did I hear that right? Are you saying Nina is your master?”

She thought, ‘I must’ve gotten it wrong.

‘That has to be it.

‘There’s no way Nina could be Barry’s master.’

“Huh? I never mentioned it before?” Barry raised an eyebrow, then realization dawned on him. He said, “Right, I didn’t. Let me introduce her properly; she’s my master, Maestro Linden. In our tradition, every apprenticeship ceremony begins with kneeling before the grandmaster.”

“Maestro Linden?” Lily stammered, her voice barely more than a whisper.

Maestro Linden was a legend in the piano world; no one could hold a candle to her.

Lily had dreamed of becoming Maestro Linden’s student for as long as she could remember.

But Maestro Linden only ever accepted one student.

And it turned out that the student was Barry.

And that piece Nina played at the family recognition party wasn just her copying Maestro Linden.

She was Maestro Linden in the flesh.

Lily clenched her jaw, her fists so tight her knuckles turned white. She glared at Nina, resentment burning in her eyes. She said, “Are you having fun messing with me?”

Lily thought, ‘She obviously can’t stand me.

‘She was Maestro Linden all along.

‘And she knew I wanted nothing more than to become Barry’s student.

‘Yet she picked this exact moment to drop the bomb that she’s actually Barry’s master.’

Lily always thought she could use Barry to climb the ranks, stepping all over Nina and leaving her in the dust.

But now, she was supposed to kneel before Nina and call her Grandmaster.

‘Why the hell should I?’ Lily thought.

Nina curled her lips into a sly grin. She said, “Toying with you? Hell yeah, it’s a blast.”

“Nina,” Vivian snapped, her face flushed with anger and shame. Why must you always target Lily? You have everything.

Why invade her world of piano, too? She’s worked for years for this chance. Must you ruin it?”

Before Nina could even get a word in, Vivian cut her off. She continued saying, “It’s me who doesn’t like you, not Lily. If you’ ve got a problem, take it out on me. Just leave her alone, okay?”

Vivian didn’t dare talk tough to Nina anymore.

She used to mouth off without a second thoug things could get ugly.

herself. If Nina decided to get physical again,

Nina glanced up, locking eyes with Vivian, her expression calmnd steady.

This wasn’t the first time she’d heard Vivian say, “I don’t like you

‘Looks like I really get under people’s skin, Nina thought.

345.Chapter 345

Vivian got totally creeped out by Nina’s stare, and whatever she wanted to say, she just swallowed it back down without even thinking.

Nina glanced away, her voice cool and mocking. She asked, “What’s wrong? Weren’t you here to kneel and become a disciple? Having second thoughts now?”

Barry followed up, saying, “If you’re not interested in the apprenticeship, then let’s just drop it. Maybe I’m just not worthy to be your teacher.”

Then Barry turned to Nina. He said, “Master, shall we go?”

Nina nodded and walked out without looking back.

“Wait,” Lily took a deep breath and called after Nina.

Nina stopped in her tracks, turned around, and shot Lily a playful, mocking look.

Lily didn’t say a word. She just poured a cup of coffee, knelt in front of Nina, and said, “Grandmaster, please accept me.”

Vivian gaped at Lily, completely stunned. She said, “Lily, what are you doing? After everything she’s put you through, you’re still serving her like this?”

“Mom,” Lily replied quietly, “being Maestro Linden’s grand-disciple is a huge honor for me. Please, just stop.”

Vivian’s words caught in her throat; she just couldn’t get them out.

But seeing how set Lily was, she didn’t say another word.
