346 Chapter 346
346.Chapter 346
Nina’s icy gaze swept over Lily before she took the cup from her hand, a faint smirk playing on her lips. She said, “The coffee’s fine, but it’s a shame the one serving it is so painfully mediocre.”
Lily’s head shot up, her face going pale as she stared at Nina. She said, “What did you just say?”
Nina dumped the coffee right onto the floor, then bent down, he lips almost brushing Lily’s ear, her voice icy and mocking. She said, “You’re not even worthy of being my grand-disciple.”
“Nina!” Lily shouted; she shot to her feet, glaring at Nina, her face burning with anger. “You’re way out of line.”
“Out of line?” Nina laughed, her slender fingers gliding over Lily’s pale cheek, her voice teasing and taunting. She asked, ” Am I really out of line, Ms. Nicholson?”
Lily’s face fell, panic flashing in her eyes as she stumbled back a few steps. Her heart raced so fast she could barely breathe.
“You,” Lily stammered, her mind reeling. She always prided herself on keeping her cool, never letting the little stuff shake her.
But now, she was completely falling apart.
Lily thought, her mind spinning in panic, ‘Just how much does Nina know?
‘What’s she after?
‘Has Mom figured it out?’
Lily shot a worried glance at Vivian, her mind racing.
Vivian, of course, heard Nina call Ms. Nicholson.
But she just thought Nina was referring to Lily’s surname, so she brushed it off.
Right now, Vivian was just furious at Nina for toying with Lily; nothing else even crossed her mind.
When Lily saw that Vivian hadn’t caught on, she finally felt a weight lift off her shoulders.
Afraid Vivian would notice anything, Lily grabbed Nina’s arm, gritting her teeth as she whispered urgently, “What are you trying to do?”
Nina glanced at the hand on her arm, her smirk sharpening. She said, “Why so tense? The Swansons raised you. Whatever, you’ll have a home. Pass a message to Mr. Nicholson. I’m hosting a party at the Swanson estate. He’d better come.”
“He’s not available,” Lily snapped back, not even pausing to think
If her dad came to the party, there was no way he wouldn’t end up face-to-face with Vivian.
And then, her secret would be out in the open for good.
“Oh, is that so?” Nina replied, giving Vivian a knowing, almost mocking look. “Mrs. Swanson, rumor has it you’ve been visiting Uncle Mason’s grave every year since he passed. Is that true?”
Vivian frowned. She said, “Why are you suddenly bringing up Mason?”
If it hadn’t been for Mason, she never would’ve been forced to take Lily in.
She was still bitter about Mason.
That’s why she never mentioned him unless she absolutely had to.
And honestly, she couldn’t even let herself talk about him.
Lily was his kid. If the Swanson family ever found out, they’d definitely demand an explanation from the Lowell family. And if that happened, there’d be no way she could ever face her own mother.
“Oh, nothing. Just heard he had a kid back in the day,” Nina said her tone light, but the implication was crystal clear.
Before Nina could finish, Lily grabbed her arm tight and said under her breath, “I’ll pass the message on.”
Nina shot Lily a smirk and said, “I’ll be looking forward to the good news.”
Lily’s face turned ashen. Afraid Nina might let something slip and blow her cover, she quickly grabbed Vivian’s arm and tried to drag her out of there before anything else could be said
Vivian looked confused. She asked, “Why are y

Vivian frowned at Nina, saying, “I know you resent me favoring an adopted daughter over you. I won’t explain, and we can’t fix this. But please, stop targeting Lily. In a few days, I’m taking er to Betrico. You won’t have to see her again.”
With that, Vivian took Lily and left.
