“Why don’t you just clamp your lips shut and spare us from whatever crap you’re about to spew? Don’t ruin everyone’s appetite,” Elaine sneered.
Vivian couldn’t take it anymore and actually coughed up blood.
“Mom!” Martin and Lily shouted in panic. Both of them turned pale and hurried to catch Vivian before she collapsed.
Martin shot Elaine a cold glare. “Elaine, she’s still your elder. On your very first day in this house, you made her so mad that she coughed up blood. That’s way out of line.”
“Oh? She didn’t get enough of a scolding, so you want to get roasted, too?” Elaine crossed her arms. “Better think twice. I won’t go easy on you.”
Martin just went silent.
She didn’t say she’d hold back her words; she meant she’d hold back nothing.
“This bitch is actually threatening me, Martin thought.
Matthew didn’t budge, just kept giving Elaine a look that could kill.
Elaine caught him staring, snatched up her fork and knife, and chucked them right at Matthew. “Keep giving me that look, and I’ll pop your eyes out myself.”
Matthew quickly averted his gaze.
Meanwhile, the rest of the Swanson family was left completely stunned by Elaine’s savage verbal firepower.
Sarah was left speechless. She never would’ve imagined Elaine could be this brutal.
All this time, Sarah had only seen Elaine as someone with plenty of tricks up her sleeve, but she never expected her to be so ruthless when it came to tearing people down.
Elaine actually made Vivian so mad that she coughed up blood.
Linda’s jaw dropped. When she finally snapped out of it, she swallowed hard. “Damn, Elaine has such a sharp tongue. She blows Vivian up so bad that you can’t even talk back.”
Then she quickly tugged Luna’s sleeve. “Luna, I know you’ve goth temper, but don’t even think about crossing Elaine. If she goes nuclear, she’ll roast you so hard that you’ll cough up blood, and I’ll have to deal with the mess.”
Luna wondered, ‘I’m not crazy. Why would I go out of my way to piss off Elaine?‘
She’d only ever snapped at Nina once, and that was just her being stupid back then. That was her embarrassing dark past.
Once was enough. No way she’d make that mistake again. She’s not some bargain–bin idiot.
Nina and Ethan were both holding back their laughter so hard that they felt like they were about to explode.
Ethan was especially dying to laugh. He’d never actually seen Elaine go off on someone like this before.
She’d always been the ice queen, chill, untouchable, and always packing a little threat in her swagger, even when she roasted people in public.
This was the first time Ethan had ever witnessed Elaine unleasher full verbal firepower. It was absolutely wild. But, damn, it felt so good! He was absolutely living for this.

Even when Nina used to go off on her all the time, Vivian never spat blood. She’d just get so mad that she’d go totally nuts.
Nina, though, had already witnessed Elaine’s savage takedowns before.
Elaine usually didn’t go off on people unless she had a reason. But when she finally let loose, it meant she’d been bottling it up for ages.
Nina poured Elaine a glass of water, grinning. “Wet your whistle and keep the roast going!”
Elaine was actually a bit parched. She grabbed the water Nina handed over, chugged it down, then waved her hand. “All this going savage made me hungry. I’m going to eat something first.
Elaine took a bite, then shot Vivian a frosty glare. “I don’t do phony family stuff. If you treat me like one of your own, I’ll have your back, no questions asked.
“But if you think you can come in here and boss me around, get he hell out. I make my own rules. I don’t need anyone teaching me how to live.”
With that, Elaine turned to Vivian. “Did you hear that loud and clear, Mrs. Swanson?”
Elaine’s eyes were cold and cutting.
Vivian was startled by that glare.
She refused to give in and was about to snap back, but Lily tugged at her sleeve, telling her to drop it.
Vivian looked up at the children she loved most, Martin, Matthew, and Lily.
These were the three kids she’d poured her heart and soul into rising.
But when she was getting chewed out right to her face, not a single one of them stepped up for her. All they did was tell her to drop it and move on.
