But Nina had no clue what Scarlet was really up to. She wanted to help Scarlet, but other than the potions, she was completely lost; she didn’t even know where to begin. Being stuck in this passive role was just unbearable.

Nina rubbed her temples, then looked at Patrick. “Would you be willing to follow me?”

Patrick stared at her, a bit stunned. “Follow you?”

“Relax. I’m not asking you to kill anyone,” Nina said, nodding toward Miranda. “All you have to do is keep her safe.”

After a moment, Nina added, “And while you’re at it, teach them some martial arts.”

Scarlet was like a thick fog, always hanging over her, impossible to see through.

There was no way for Nina to figure out what Scarlet was really up to. All she could do now was protect Miranda.

Teaching Miranda would take ages, and during that time, Nina had to make sure nothing happened to her.

Patrick was silent for a moment, then asked, “Do we get paid for this?”

Nina’s mouth twitched. “Is money all you ever think about now?

The Shadowblade Syndicate used to stand for justice, but now all they cared about was money.
