It was the Carroll family’s dinner party. It was the first event Loren had hosted in Riverdale since he arrived.

Even though the Carroll family was from Roveilia, Loren’s network stretched across the country. They’d been prepping for this party for a week now.

The party was thrown in Miranda’s honor.

Even before Loren sent out any invitations, business moguls from all over the country were already calling, hoping to score an invite to the event.

Loren personally invited every single one of them.

Cheney and all his brothers showed up, too.

The Swanson family received their invitation three days ago.

Normally, just one invitation would have been enough, but at Miranda’s request, Melody personally sent Lily her own.

That made it clear how much the Carroll family valued Lily. Lily was both surprised and flattered by the special treatment. She dressed up especially for the event.

The party was held at the Grand Crest Hotel, in one of their top–tier ballrooms.

By the time the Swansons arrived, the place was already packed with guests.

Miranda was right there with Loren and Melody, greeting everyone with a smile.

As soon as she spotted Lily, Miranda rushed over, linking arms with her. “Lily, you’re here! Come on, I want you to meet Elliott.”

Lily tried to hide her excitement, shooting a cautious glance at Sarah. “Miranda, I’ll come find you in a bit. My family’s all here, and I really shouldn’t wander off.”

Miranda pouted playfully and turned to Sarah. “Sarah, Lily’s my best friend! Can I take her around and show her the place?”

Sarah shot Lily a discreet look, then smiled warmly. “Sure, go ahead.”

Then she added to Lily, “Just be mindful not to disturb the party

“Yes, Grandma,” Lily replied sweetly. She followed Miranda into the ballroom.

Melody smiled and welcomed Sarah inside.

Loren turned to Nina. “Nina, there are a few CEOs over there who are really hoping to work with SN. Would you mind meeting them for me?”

Nina nodded and headed over with Loren.

After making the rounds with Nina at the party, Loren waited until they were alone before lowering his voice. “A bunch of unfamiliar faces have turned up at the construction site on the westside of the city.”

Nina raised an eyebrow. “Did you find out who they are?”

“We looked into it. Their records are squeaky clean, but they’re all outsiders,” Loren said.

Just then, a waiter passed by, and Loren swapped his empty glass for a fresh one. “They whipped up a basement in just a

week. The way they handled it, you can tell this isn’t their first rodeo.”

Nina kept quiet, her eyes drifting over to Martin, who was busy working the room and chatting up a few familiar faces.

He glided through the crowd with a glass of red wine, looking like he belonged there, effortlessly mingling with everyone.

Matthew, on the other hand, was parked in a corner, quietly nursing his drink and not talking to anyone. He looked like he didn’t fit in at all.

Nina pulled her gaze back and said, “Works for me.”

‘Looks like Waverly really got Martin desperate now,‘ Nina thought to herself. ‘Sweet. Guess I don’t have to waste my breath nudging Martin anymore.
