She wanted to look her absolute best when Nina met her end.

As Lily headed upstairs, Vivian watched her go, a cold glint flashing in her eyes.

She pulled out her phone. There was a message she’d gotten just ten minutes ago. It was a DNA test result. Vivian and Lily had no blood ties at all.

Ever since Nina had brought up Mason out of the blue that day, Vivian had felt something was off.

All these years, Vivian had never once questioned Lily’s identity. After all, it was her mother who had brought Lily home. Her mother had told her Lily was Mason’s illegitimate daughter.

Vivian had never doubted her mother’s word for a second. But what Nina said that day got her thinking, so Vivian ordered a DNA test that very night.

Vivian couldn’t believe it. Lily wasn’t related to her at all. If Lily really was Mason’s daughter, there should have been some family tie between them. But the DNA results showed no relation whatsoever.

Vivian had been lied to! Her mother had been lying to her for almost twenty years.

Vivian stared up at Lily’s room upstairs, her eyes cold and vicious.

With that, Nina walked straight into the house.

“Mr. Nicholson? What are you talking about?” Once Nina was inside, Vivian suddenly turned to Lily. “Did Nina find out about Lawrence?”

“No.” Lily replied with a forced laugh. “She was just joking around with me, Mom. Don’t think too much about it.”

Before Vivian could say anything else, Lily quickly added, “Oh, Iust remembered I have some things to take care of. I’ll skip the mall today.”

With that, Lily hurried upstairs.

Vivian watched Lily’s retreating figure, her brows furrowed tightly.
