Chapter 439

Felix’s heart was bleeding as he said those words.

When he was just five, his dad murdered his mom and ended up getting the death penalty.

His relatives all said he was bad luck, that he jinxed his parents to their deaths, and nobody wanted anything to do with him.

He was only five when they threw him out on the street.

He had nothing to eat, not a single cent to his name, and was on the verge of starving to death out there, until Ryan found

him.

Ryan originally wanted to send him to an orphanage, but once they saw his background, they turned him away. After pulling some strings with the higher-ups, Ryan brought him back to the Fosters and had Charles and his wife take him in as their

own.

The only warmth he ever knew in this world came from Ryan.

From that day on, he made a vow to always look out for Ryan.

He never thought of himself as Ryan’s adopted brother, just one of his men.

No matter how much Ryan tried to get him to call him “brother, Felix always refused.

Everything he had was thanks to Ryan.

Ryan was his boss, the one he was loyal to, no matter what.

He would always remember his place.

Over the years, he and Ryan had been through hell and back together. Except for that one time a few years ago when Jason took a bullet for Ryan, Felix had always kept Ryan safe, even if it meant taking hits and getting hurt many times.

As far as he was concerned, that was just how it was supposed to be.

But this time, it was Ryan who took the bullet for him, a total reversal from all the times Felix had shielded Ryan before.

Felix wanted to save Ryan more than anyone else, but deep down, he understood Ryan’s unwavering resolve.

Ryan had put his life on the line to get these files; they had to be delivered, no matter the cost.

If both of them ended up dying here, at least their mission would be complete.

Felix shot a look at Ryan, then got to his feet. “Zaire, you’re the least hurt and still have your strength. We’ll cover you. When we launch our attack, use the chaos to slip out with the files and Head straight for Black Wolf.”

Felix hesitated for a moment before adding, “Listen, once you’re out, trust no one except Black Wolf and Nina. Get Black Wolf to take you to Nina, hand her the files. She’ll know exactly what to do.”

Still worried he hadn’t made it clear, Felix stressed again, “Seriously, remember this: besides Nina and Black Wolf, don’t trust a soul. Even if someone from our own side shows up, don’t give the files to anyone else.”

Zaire’s face was full of panic. “That’s not happening! Even if we can’t save Ryan, we have to get you out!”

Felix shook his head. “Some of us are hurt, some are gone. There’s only eight of us left, surrounded by hundreds. We won’t make it out. I’ve seen more fights than any of you. I’ll hold them off-if you stay, none of us gets out.”

“But.. Zaire started.

Felix cut him off. “Enough! We’ve been stuck here for days, and those guys outside are losing patience. If we keep dragging this out, nobody’s leaving alive.

Zaire opened his mouth to protest, but finally just vowed. “Trustne. Even if it costs me my life, I’ll get these files back.”

Felix nodded, then pulled everyone together to hash out their ack plan.

An hour later.

Felix picked up his gun and turned to his team. “This is our last chance. Even if it costs us our lives, we have to make sure Zaire gets out of here alive!”

“Yes!” the team shouted in unison.

Felix glanced at the unconscious Ryan and murmured, “Ryan, you won’t be alone on the road to the afterlife. Even if it means dying too, I’ll go with you!”

Felix tore his gaze away and barked, “Attack!”

At the Goodwin family’s place in Betrico.

A white BMW drifted in and screeched to a stop.

As Grace pushed open the car door and stepped out, a sharp pain stabbed at her chest. She had to grab onto the car for support, feeling dizzy and out of it for a long moment before she could catch her breath.
