“Thank God Nina showed up today, she thought. ‘Without her, we’d have probably thought Grace was drugged with an aphrodisiac and called a doctor. By then, it would’ve been too late. Grace wouldn’t have survived.

Nina furrowed her brow, staying silent.

Ryan glanced down at her. “I’ll see you out.”

Nina met his eyes, sensing he had something to say, and nodded.

Ryan was driving, with Elaine and Nina in the back.

The front passenger seat had always been Nina’s, but now she wouldn’t even go near it.

Ryan caught Nina’s stormy expression in the rearview mirror and sighed, “That poison was from Scarlet.”

He wasn’t asking; he was sure of it.

Nina looked up, her stunning face an unreadable mask. “What are you getting at?”

“Don’t be so defensive,” Ryan said, a sharp pain twisting in his chest. “Even if we split up, we don’t have to be enemies. Besides, Scarlet’s always been like family to me.”

Nina just looked down, saying nothing.

Ryan was quiet for a long moment. “The woman we caught last night said another woman gave her the poison. Her description sounded exactly like Scarlet.”

He paused, then added, “Scarlet’s sudden disappearance must have something to do with this, right?”

After what felt like forever, Nina said, “When you find the real mastermind, I want to see her myself.”

‘It can’t be Scarlet. But how did her poison end up with that woman? And why does that woman look so much like Scarlet? What’s her game? Is someone targeting Scarlet?’ she wondered.

Nina only knew a few people with a grudge against Scarlet, but none looked anything like her. And Scarlet had never mentioned someone like that,

I’ve got someone checking it out,” Ryan said.

“Got it,” Nina replied.

Ryan pulled up outside Elaine’s villa.

Under Elaine’s insistent urging, Nina had decided not to go home today and instead stay at her villa.

Just as Nina was about to step inside, Ryan called after her, “Nina!”

Nina paused. “Anything else?”

Elaine was walking ahead of them. She glanced back and made herself scarce, giving the two some privacy.

Ryan approached Nina, his face serious. “You said we should be honest with each other. I honestly have no idea what I did to make you think I cheated. Could you please tell me?”

Nina looked up at him, staring for a long moment. Then she reached out, touched his face, and let out a mocking smile.

“Ryan,” she said, “I did love you. Besides Scarlet, you were the kindest to me. You two saved me. I really cherished you both.”

“But you…” Her hand drifted down, her middle finger pressing right over his heart. “You stabbed me in the heart. You made a

fool out of me.”

Ryan gripped her hand, his voice urgent. “Nina, please, just tell me, what happened?”

He thought, his chest tightening, ‘Nina is hurting.

‘She’s the one I treasure more than anything, the last person I’d ever want to see hurt. But now she says I stabbed her right in the heart. How could I ever do that to her?”

“You want the truth?” Nina sneered. “Rainpoton. Claire. Shocking, huh? I was standing right outside the door.”

Ryan’s mind went blank, panic flashing in his eyes. “Nina, please, just listen. It’s not ”

Nina cut him off, her voice cold as ice. “Save it. Sign the share repurchase agreement, and we’ll be even.”

Without even looking back, she walked into the villa.

Ryan clenched his hand into a tight fist and slammed it against the car door.

After a long moment, he pulled out his phone and dialed a number. “Get your ass to Riverdale, now.”
