When Ryan went upstairs, Nina was giving Grace acupuncture.

“How’s my mom?” Ryan asked, setting a glass of water next to Nina. His expression was neutral, as if their earlier argument had never happened.

Nina didn’t look up, her tone icy. “She’ll be fine. Once Elaine brings the Poisonous Herb, I can cure her.”

Ryan fell silent, swallowing any explanation as he saw Nina’s indifferent face.

For a moment, the atmosphere turned awkwardly quiet.

Grace’s eyes darted between Nina and Ryan. Just as she was about to speak, a maid walked in and said, “Ms. Swanson, Ms. Sinclair is here.”

Nina got up and left the room without sparing Ryan a single glance.

Grace smacked Ryan’s shoulder in anger. “You coward, just looking at you makes me mad. You upset Nina and you’re just sitting here? You’re usually so full of yourself, and now you can’t spit out a single word?”

Ryan remained silent. ‘I want to fix this, but she won’t give me a chance.

Downstairs, Nina took the Poisonous Herb from Elaine and asked for a private room to work on the antidote.

She knew how to detoxify Lover’s Bane, but had never actually made the antidote before. She’d have to prepare it from

scratch.

Quickly, Nina had the antidote ready and headed straight upstairs to treat Grace.

Zachary, Maria, and Charles all followed her upstairs.

Nina didn’t bother asking them to leave. Lover’s Bane was nasty, but it was no big deal to her.

She handed Grace the antidote and adjusted the three needles on her body.

Grace swallowed the medicine obediently.

Nina wrote out a prescription for Ryan and said, “Take this twice a day for three days. You’ve got the bath formula. Have

Grace soak for a week.”

Ryan took the prescription, pressing his lips together. “Thanks.”

Nina said flatly, “This isn’t free.”

Ryan fell silent. ‘Oh no, Nina’s seriously mad this time.

‘Before, she’d help without mentioning money, even though I always transferred her cash anyway. Now she brought it up first. She really wants to cut me off.”

Ryan let out a sigh. Being misunderstood by Nina just felt awful.

“Wait, that’s it?” Grace blinked, confused. “I’m cured?”

She seriously wondered if Nina and Ryan had been messing with her.

She hadn’t felt a thing when poisoned, and now felt nothing getting cured. All she did was switch rooms, sleep a night, take a pill, and boom, poison gone.

Who recovers from poisoning this quickly anyway?’ Grace thought.

Elaine’s mouth twitched. “Too bad you missed out on the full poison experience.

“The woman downstairs hasn’t been thrown to the wolves yet, so she probably still has some poison left. Why don’t you try another dose and get the full Lover’s Bane experience?”

Grace immediately shook her head. “No way!”

What am I, nuts? Who takes poison just for kicks?’ she thought.

As Grace was okay, Maria breathed a sigh of relief. She turned to Nina and asked, “What happens when the Lover’s Bane hits?”

“She’d go completely insane, her body would shut down, and the only apparent relief would be through sex.

“To someone who doesn’t know about the poison, it’d look like she was drugged with an aphrodisiac. But sex won’t help; she could die during the act,” Nina said flatly.

Maria gasped, “That’s horrifying. Who’d be so vicious as to poison Grace like that?”
