Heiress Returns Family Shocks (Nina Swanson) novel Chapter 462

Chapter 462

Even the stone lions guarding the entrance were blinged out wit gold accents.

Nina couldn’t help but feel helpless.

She doubted their taste.

Sure, it was flashy, but all that gold just made it look tacky.

It was all glitz and gold, but not a shred of real beauty.

“So, Ms. Swanson, what do you think of this place?” Vincent asked, walking beside her and shooting her a sideways glance.

Nina stayed quiet for a while, then finally said, “Honestly? Way too much flexing going on here.”

Vincent’s lips twitched. “Yeah, I think it’s a bit over the top too, but my grandpa’s obsessed with it. Well, he grew up so now he just wants everyone to know he’s loaded.”

Nina blinked. “So your family’s one of those Ancient Martial Clans?”

This inherited legacy was something no one else could get in several lifetimes.

‘Poor? Is he serious?’ she wondered.

“We’re not like the other Ancient Martial Clans,” Vincent said after a pause. “Our ancestor was the crown prince of the previous kingdom.”

Vincent hesitated, then added, “Our ancestor ended up lost among the common folk, and life was tough. Even now, our families never managed to reclaim our heritage. That struggle lasted all the way up to my grandpa’s time.”

They sat at the stone table, and he continued: “My grandpa got a huge fortune by chance at twenty. Our ancestor, the king, knew about him all along but never acknowledged him to keep him safe.”

“The king buried a pile of treasure in our ancestors’ backyard, but the royal succession back then was ruthless. He was terrified someone would notice my ancestor, so he never dared let him touch that fortune.

“Once the king had taken care of his rivals, he got really sick. So he sent a trusted knight to fetch the crown prince. He wanted to make him the new king.”

Vincent gave a bitter laugh. “But that knight accidentally drowned before he could reach the crown prince. So my ancestor never got to see a single coin of that treasure before he died.

“As for my grandpa… He just happened to wander into that forest and found the stash the king had left behind, plus a letter meant for our ancestor. That’s when he realized this was all meant for our family from the start.”

Vincent glanced at Nina. “When someone poor suddenly strikes it rich, they’d probably gold-plate the floors if they could.”

Nina shot him a look, totally unimpressed. “Good story, but you should quit while you’re behind. Storytelling’s really not your thing.”

Vincent just stared at her, speechless.

He chuckled softly, then suddenly changed the subject. “So, Ms. Swanson, what’s your type when it comes to guy

Nina glanced up at him, her tone amused. “What, you got your eye on me?*

Vincent just grinned, keeping quiet.

Nina smirked. “You know how to cook?”

“Nope!” he shot back.

“Oh, then you’re out of luck. Just give it a rest,” Nina said, waving him off.

Vincent just stared at her, speechless.

After a long, awkward silence, Vincent finally spoke up again. “So you’re not giving me even the slightest chance?”

Nina glanced at her watch, then flashed a sly grin. “Your gift has just arrived.”

As soon as she finished speaking, the silence of the night was shartered by a barrage of explosions.

A bomb landed with pinpoint accuracy right in the corridor theyd just walked through.

In an instant, explosions erupted everywhere outside.

The whole courtyard was engulfed in flames.

Vincent just sat there, completely calm. “Nice gift. I like it.”

Nina stood up and swaggered out, not even bothering to look back.

Halfway out, she stopped and turned around. “Aren’t you going to stop me?”

“Hope the next gift you give me is silent,” Vincent said, still calm as ever.

Nina raised an eyebrow. “I might just send you a silent bomb next time!”

“Then I’ll be waiting for your next surprise,” Vincent said with a smirk.
