Chapter 468
The next day, at the agreed time. Ethan took Nina and Elaine to a dessert shop in the center of Hillcrest.
Simon stayed at the hotel, waiting for their message.
When they arrived, Veda wasn’t there yet.
They picked a spot in the corner and settled in.
Elaine scanned the place, then quietly whispered to Nina, “Hey, something’s weird about the customers today.”
Last night, after Ethan wrapped up his call with Veda, they’d already scoped out this spot.
Back then, there were all sorts of people around.
But today, everyone looked like they worked in an office.
Guys and girls alike were all suited up.
Elaine glanced around at the customers, her lips twitching
Who in their right mind comes to afternoon tea dressed head-to-toe in a suit?” she thought.

If it were just one or two people who didn’t feel like changing after work and wanted to unwind, that’d be understandable. But it was weird that literally everyone here was dressed up like they were heading to a board meeting
It wasn’t just them who found it odd; even the servers felt it was strange.
The servers behind the counter kept whispering to each other, shooting glances at the customers.
Nina didn’t bother glancing back at the crowd. She calmly called over a server, ordered a few desserts, then said in a low voice, “They all have the aura of parasites on them.
Elaine instantly straightened up, her eyes wide. “Are they all from Phoenix Village?”
Nina had mentioned before that there was a parasite aura near Phoenix Village.
“Not sure,” Nina replied, casting a quick look out the window.
Across the street, a girl in a white dress with two braids was eyeing them.
She was stunning.
Nina had met plenty of gorgeous girls in her time, but even she had to admit that this one was on another level.
She looked like a fairy who’d just descended into the mortal world.
Nina smoothly averted her gaze, idly chatting with Ethan and Elaine.
But every so often, her eyes would wander back across the street
After about ten minutes, the girl across the street finally made a move and started walking toward the shop.
She pushed open the door and walked right in, heading straight for Ethan.
“Ethan?” she called out, her smile lighting up the whole place.

Chapter 468
Ethan glanced up at her, still a little uncertain. “Veda?”
EX 55 W
“That’s me.” Veda said, settling in beside him. Her voice was clear and pleasant, like a gentle melody drifting through the air
Ethan stared at her in surprise. “You look pretty now.”
“Really?” Veda smiled, her cheeks tinged with shyness.
“Of course. You’re even more beautiful than before,” Ethan sighed. “Seriously, how do you do it?”
Most girls’ looks were pretty much set by the time they were in college, but Veda just kept getting prettier every year.
Her skin was so smooth and soft.
Nina glanced up at Veda, a faint smile tugging at her lips.
She thought, ‘How else could she stay so youthful? Obviously, it’s the parasite keeping her that way.
There was a kind of parasite in Moonshadow that could grant eternal youth, but it was notoriously difficult to cultivate.
Veda was definitely raised on parasites. So what about the other girls from Phoenix Village?
If the other girls from Phoenix Village looked anywhere close to Veda’s level of beauty, odds were they owed it to parasites,
too.
But that was pretty odd.
A parasite could only work its magic on one person, and there had to be at least twenty girls in Phoenix Village.
Even getting one parasite was tough, so how did they manage to get twenty of them?
Veda noticed Nina checking her out and smiled, “Is this your sister?”
Ethan blinked in surprise. “How did you know?”
“You two look so much alike!” Veda said with a grin. “Your sister’s gorgeous, and you’re pretty handsome yourself.”
Elaine frowned. ‘Why does it bug me so much when someone compliments my husband right in front of me?”
She thought, ‘Forget it. It’s all for the mission, so I have to take it.
“Hi, Veda, I’m Nina!” Nina greeted, her smile so sweet and innocent it could melt anyone’s heart.
Ethan gawked at Nina, eyes wide in disbelief.
He wondered, ‘Is this Nina? What’s wrong with her? Since when did Nina pull off such an adorable act? How come I never noticed this side of her before?’
