The next day. Ethan, Nina, and Elaine arrived at Phoenix Village arly, following the address Veda had given them.

Veda was waiting for them at the entrance of the village.

The gatekeeper at the entrance was nowhere to be seen that nigh

From the outside, Phoenix Village looked just like any regular viage

Veda led them into Phoenix Village.

As soon as Ethan stepped into Phoenix Village, he thought that is place felt different from other villages.

He’d been to the countryside before, but most places he’d seen were pretty rough.

Sure, some villages had built their own villas, but none of them me close to this level of luxury.

But Phoenix Village was something else entirely.

Every house here was a standalone villa, and they were all speci

Just the exterior alone looked super fancy, just like the ones that would be seen in the city’s upscale neighborhoods.

As they walked by, Ethan peeked into one of the villas and was tally blown away.

The place looked like something straight out of a luxury magazine.

It put the Swanson family’s mansion to shame.

The Swanson family might not be the most elite in Riverdale, b they had a pretty solid reputation.

Even so, they would never dream of decking their place out like this.

After all, money didn’t grow on trees.

But here in this remote village, not only did every house have it own villa, but the interiors were ridiculously fancy too.

If Ethan wasn’t seeing things, the one he just peeked into had a masterpiece from a famous painter hanging right on the wall

That painting would fetch a fortune at any auction.

And now, it was just casually hanging in a village home.

Is this really just a small village? Ethan thought to himself.

Ethan couldn’t help but ask Veda, “Is this really a village? Don’t tell me you think I’ve never seen a real village before.”

Veda just smiled and said. “This place is a tourist spot, so folks here live pretty large.”

Ethan was still doubtful.

If I hadn’t looked this place up before coming, I might’ve actually bought that,’ Ethan thought.

Nina and Elaine didn’t say a word the whole time.

Nina was quietly taking in the sights around the village.

But what caught her attention was completely different from what Ethan was focused on.

She was watching how the villagers moved and spoke.

As they walked in, a few of the villagers greeted Veda.

They talked like real country folk, but Nina knew that they were all pretending.

Nina had spent her childhood in the countryside, with Scarlet by her side.

They had a pretty good life, living in a custom-built villa.

But the folks living around them were true-blue country people authentic farmers through and through.

They often helped the villagers with their health problems, so everyone was pretty close-knit.

The way they talked was either honest and unfiltered or downright crude.

Country folks didn’t bother sugarcoating things. If they had something to say, they’d just spit it out and usually let a few curse words fly.

It was not that they’re bad folks. That was just how they lived for years, and nothing could change it.

What mattered most to them was being blunt and honest.

But the villagers in Phoenix Village, even though they tried hard to sound like genuine country folk, it was obvious from their speech that they were just putting on an act.

And then there was the way they walked.

Their gait was nothing like that of ordinary people.

They all practiced martial arts, specifically, ancient martial arts.

Nina had sparred with ancient martial artists before, and she could tell their way of walking was different from that of ordinary martial artists. Their heels barely made contact with the ground, giving their steps a light, almost weightless feel.

Except for the women, all the other villagers walked exactly the same way.

And then there were their hands. Even though some of them were carrying hoes back home, Nina noticed none of them had callused hands.

Those who practiced ancient martial arts didn’t need to use weapons, so their hands were almost always smooth.

On top of that, the women here were genuinely beautiful.

It wasn’t just women, and even the kids were all good-looking.
