Heiress Returns Family Shocks (Nina Swanson) novel Chapter 481

Chapter 481

She decided not to bother asking any

There were just too many people here. No way she’d get any answers out of them anyway.

About half an hour later, Veda and Ethan marched in with Sim and the Enforcement Squad.

Veda saw the scene in front of her and felt like she couldn’t even breathe.

She pointed at the men, her voice shaking. “Those guys are the es everyone thought were dead!”

She wondered, ‘Oh my god! What is even happening right now? low are they even alive? Weren’t they supposed to be dead?

Wait, what am I even looking at? Is that heroin? That’s insane. Tere’s so much of it! Have they all lost their minds? How many lives are going to be destroyed by all this?”

She wasn’t like the others in Phoenix Village. She’d actually gotten a college education.

She knew all too well the devastation drugs could bring.

She’d always absolutely despised drugs.

She never imagined there’d be a massive drug factory hiding so lose to home.

Nina glanced at Veda. “Are you sure these are all the guys who go snatched up from the village?”

Veda nodded. “I’m not totally sure. Some faces look familiar, but there are a bunch I’ve never seen before.”

She was still pretty young, after all.

Lots of girls got married way before she did.

And these guys were at different ages.

Some of them was older, but that didn’t mean they weren’t good looking

Nina didn’t say anything else, just shot a frown at the Enforcement Squad. “Is this it? That’s all the people you brought?”

The Enforcement Squad captain was shocked.

When Simon flashed Nina’s credentials and called them in, they thought it was just a routine bust.

They never dreamed it would blow up this big.

This was next level, totally off the charts.

There was hundreds of kilos of drugs. Even raiding ten drug der wouldn’t seize this much.

The captain’s face went deadly serious. “I’ll call for backup right now.”

“Bring in as many as you can. There are still hundreds left in the village,” Nina said.

No one in this village was innocent. Not even Veda.

She might not have taken part in any of it, but she grew up here and enjoyed all the money these drugs brought in.

She was not at fault, but she was not without fault either.

The captain gave a sharp nod and rushed out to mobilize more officers.

That night, Phoenix Village was anything but peaceful.

And it wasn’t just the village. Things were just as chaotic outside.

News spread like wildfire, and the media were on it before the Enforcement Squad even showed up.

Reporters flooded in, but the Enforcement Squad’s iron-fisted fackdown kept them all in check. Nobody dared leak a word about what was happening.

After all, nobody even knew for sure if Phoenix Village was really the one pulling the strings.

They had to keep everything under wraps.

Interrogations went on all night.

Once the Enforcement Squad took control of Phoenix Village, Nina, Ryan, and the rest headed back to their hotel.

As for Veda, being a local, she had to face questioning as part of the investigation.

Since she played a key role in busting the case, and once the Enforcement Squad was sure she really didn’t know anything about it, they let her go.

But even after she was released, Veda just sat in Nina’s room all night, totally spaced out and she hadn’t slept a wink.

When Nina woke up and saw Veda still sitting there, she bit her lip. “Still can’t wrap your head around it?” Nina asked.

Veda turned her head numbly, just staring at Nina in silence.

Her cheeks were stained with tears, her eyes puffy. No doubt she spent the whole night sobbing.

Nina stood up and said, “If you can’t come to terms with it, then go do some good. Try to atone for your sins.”

Nina wasn’t going to comfort her by saying she did nothing wrong.

Her clothes, her looks, even her college tuition, all of it was paid for by dirty drug money.

All of it was tainted by those drugs.

That was a responsibility Veda could never run away from.

If she wanted any shot at a better future, she had to make amends for everything first.

She needed to prove to everyone she was genuinely sorry.

Only then would people even think about accepting her.
